I think it is on Amazon now for under 10 dollars Doc. If I am mistaken please let me know.

My pitch is for the Hobbit. With all these Hobbit movies goin around, maybe it would be fun to compare/contrast. Or, if ya haven't seen the movies, it's still fun. One on my favorite adventures.
I second Wendy's nomination of The Hobbit as a first book. Besides it being topical, it is something many may have read years ago but would be well served to go through again.
I agree with the hobbit nomination but I also will throw in The Martian by Andy Weir. I read it some time ago didnt think I would like it and ended up loving it. This year the movie version is coming out with Matt Damon directed by Ridley Scott so there is some relevance.
I also agree with The Hobbit nomination, I haven't read it since the first movie came out so I think it would be cool compare to now that the last movie is out. I would also suggest World War Z by Max Brooks, I'm not usually a big fan of zombie books but this is written more like a history account from survivors.

A lady I work with just started to read that. She's really enjoying it so far.

Well, I didn't talk to Steve, but I think it is safe to assume that we don't need an official vote. Looks like the hobbit will be the first book. Now to iron out how long we have to read it. Everyone get your copies of the hobbit and get after it.
I have all the Lord of the Rings volumes but not The Hobbit. But I did find a PDF version online to try. Also does anyone know if there's an audio book out there? The only ones I've come across are radio versions.
Yes there are audio versions. I found one that said the reader sings the songs. I'll look it up when I get home

I found my copy of the hobbit audiobook on youtube awhile back. I tried to find the exact video but it was taken down ( Obviously) however I DID find this version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nqPm...
I Also wanted to thank Steve for starting this book club. For two big reasons. One of my new years resolutions is to read more, and I haven't used Goodreads in almost 2 years so it gives me a good reason to use this site again.
