Seek fantasy? Not as much now as when I was young. I’m more sci-fi and romance now. I wanted to read 5th season because I heard an interview with the author on NPR. Unfortunately almost 200 pages in and it wasn’t making sense to me. I’ll pick it up again in a year or two and see if it makes sense then. Sometimes you need a little more life under your belt to understand something.
I found the shifting viewpoints and fragmented story difficult to follow initially, also. Reading through the chapter titles in the table of contents helped considerably, I spent a lot of time flipping back and forth between that, the map, and the index of terms.
I reread the book when I decided to use it for this book group and found things that I had completely missed the first time around. I'm also finding that current events are shaping some of my reactions to this story and the author's themes as well.
I hope you get a chance to give the book another go, it is well worth it!
