CeeCee lives in Ohio with her mother and father, a travelling salesman who's away more than he's home leaving CeeCee to deal with her mother's mental illness. Following her mother's death in an accident, CeeCee goes to live with her great-aunt Tootie in Savannah where she discovers an overwhelmingly female society of manners and gentility in the South.

This is an amazing book, I really loved it. CeeCee is an engaging child - who on this site doesn't identify with a child who loves to read!
