For the following combinations, you can read a book that fits one of the two categories for 1 point, or you can find a book that has both of the categories in it for 2 points. (You can find a book with a good vamp for 1 point. If you get one that has both good and bad vamps then you gets 2.) You cannot use books from other challenges in this group. Books must be read on or after 1/10/2015.

1) Fire vs. Ice
2) Good Vamp vs. Bad Vamp
3) Angels vs. Demons
4) Dog vs. Cat
5) Nature vs City

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments Heather I need you to judge a book to see if it fits a category.

I read Darkness Falls (Dark Angels, #7) by Keri Arthur , in it Risa has been changed and is now categorized as a dark angel. She fights a woman that hell couldn't keep in. Would this one count for angel vs demon?

message 8: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments Heather, can you also explain what you're thinking with the fire and ice one?

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments I've been trying to think of a book for that one too.

Would a book with a dragon (fire) and then some type of ice spell work . . . or is it something different?

message 10: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I know, I've been trying to think of things too. My other thought was something like Caressed by Ice, you have Judd who is a very cold person, while Brenna is bubbly and warm.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Good one! Sadly I'm not ready to read that one again . . . maybe Shield of Winter could work . . .

message 12: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
Literally. An actual fire, whether it be a lit candle or a forest fire. Or, an ice cube, ice to skate on, slip on, icicle...

Heather what was your verdict on this one?

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Gotcha!

message 15: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
Sorry, I didn't see the post. I initially thought the whole good verses evil thing, but I didn't put that. I put angel vs. demon. I guess as long as she is an "angel" then it works.

message 16: by Darcy (last edited Jan 18, 2015 08:20PM) (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments Thanks! If it was a no, then I'd move the vamp one there and search for a new vamp one.

Ok...so what I'm hearing is that everyone should start harassing Tya toward the end of the year.

message 20: by Tya (new)

Tya | 846 comments Yep. True story. Harass away.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Mawh-ha-ha! Permission to Harass . . . me likey.

Try doing a google sheet for it like me. That really helped last year, and it's working really well or me this year.

1) What's a google sheet?
2) I'm kind of done, but not really. I have the categories, but I'm still looking for a cat and dog book to get full points.

I'm reserving Steel Beauty as a re-read for this one.

I could re-read an Animal Magnetism book, but a new one comes out at the beginning of April.

I thought of that series too.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Oh, google has a excel/data shet in the google docs. I put all my challenges in there and then keep track of them from there.

Go, Heather!

message 27: by Tya (new)

Tya | 846 comments I read a book that would work for the nature/city one, I think. She's from Georgia and runs off to New York and after her marriage fails she runs back to Georgia. It was...pretty bad, actually. I'll use it if I can't find anything else and if it counts. But, I'd rather wait until I find an actual good book.

message 28: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments Just finished mine, the last category, dogs vs cats was a tough one. The book I stumbled upon and 2 of each and even a hamster.

I hate it when that happens. What about going through your read list and sort it by date read. That might job your memory.

message 34: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
I always have it sorted by date read. I thought I had knew which one it was, but when I did a search they talked about a cat, but never got one. There's another one somewhere. Oh well.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Upon finishing a book I come over to the group and try to match them up with challenges. Then put any alt they could match up with on the side.

Or else I'd never get any points!!

It is a good series. I love the dog in it.

message 42: by Colleen (new)

Colleen | 172 comments I'm listening to it and it threw me at first because it is narrated by the same person as Kevin Hearne's Iron Druide series which also has a "talking" dog. I like it so far

I can see that. When I first listened to the Kitty Norville book I had issues because it's the same narrator as the Rachel Morgan series. I seemed weird that Rachel's voice was in Kitty's words.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments I need a recommend for Dog vs cat!

Also, which series have good vs bad vamps? My brian is pulling up a blank. Would Mercy Thompson series work since Stephan is good and the other vamps are bad? Especially book 2.

I think that work work for vamps. Also any of the later books from Lindsay Sands or Kerrilyn Sparks would work.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Thanks! As I was falling asleep the books started popping up in my mind.

Sadly dogvscat isn't coming to me.

Take a look at Dana Marie Bell. She has some cat/dog shifter books that fun and short reads.
