✓ Did you find it fun or was it more of a chore to complete?
This year I had a blast participating in the RaT.
✓ Is this your first time participating in a Read-a-Thon? If so, would you participate again or was once enough? If not, how did this year's RAT compare?
This was my 5th RaT. I really enjoy these and this year's was a lot of fun.
✓ Did you choose RAT books in advance? If so, were you able to read all of the books you'd set aside? Did you find yourself straying from your chosen books and reading more based on mood or another reason?
I started with a list of books but that list quickly fell by the wayside and I read a bunch of other books. Some for challenges and some just for fun.
✓ Did you have a favorite reading spot?
This time I mostly read either in my bed or my porch swing, enjoying the last of the good weather.
✓ Did you find it difficult to stick to your reading schedule? If so, how'd ya overcome it?
I did not have trouble sticking to a reading schedule this year since I went with shorter blocks. The last couple of years I have done large chunks of time (8-24 hours) and those were harder. This year was just fun.
✓ Did you discover a new series, author or genre?
I read a book by Timothy Ellis and fell right down the rabbit hole, completely disrupting my planned reading. I don't know what it is about this series, but it sucked me in quickly and I had a hard time reading anything else. It's a space opera and not great literature, but I really, really enjoyed the characters.
✓ Did you read alone or with partner?
alone
✓ Which book format(s) did you use for your RAT? Audio, Paperback/Hardcover (DTB), or eBook OR did you use a mix of formats?
only kindle

Eldarwen | 2205 comments I wanted to do two 12-hour reading days and utterly failed at it. I managed one...
Overall, September was not a particularly good reading month. Too many other things going on and lots of interruptions. You'd think weekends would be quieter these days haha.

Give us the Scoop:

✓ Number of days/hours spent reading
I read practically every day, buuuut I only read one 12-hour shift instead of two. So total fail there.

✓ Number and/or list of books read
Books I completed:
Daughters of Nri (The Return of the Earth Mother, #1) by Reni K. Amayo Love Under Quarantine by Kylie Scott With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo The Dry (Aaron Falk #1) by Jane Harper Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause Veiled (Alex Verus, #6) by Benedict Jacka Piecing Me Together by Renée Watson
Books I read a few pages of:
The Black Prism (Lightbringer, #1) by Brent Weeks The Power by Naomi Alderman Les Misérables by Victor Hugo

✓ Number of pages read
2287 total (2107 pages from books I finished)

✓ Did you find it fun or was it more of a chore to complete?
Always fun :-)

✓ Is this your first time participating in a Read-a-Thon? If so, would you participate again or was once enough? If not, how did this year's RAT compare?
Not my first time, no. I think last year September was a better reading month than this year.

✓ Did you choose RAT books in advance? If so, were you able to read all of the books you'd set aside? Did you find yourself straying from your chosen books and reading more based on mood or another reason?
I didn't choose in advance no, but I listed a few I've had on my currently-reading shelf, some for ages. And managed to finish only one haha (Daughters of Nri), which was the most recent and was started in August. The second almost (The Black Prism), I've been reading this on and off for months because it's half a doorstop and I don't carry it around with me so reading is slower. The third (The Power) is just a draaaaaaag at this point but I'm determined to finish it some day.

✓ Did you have a favorite reading spot?
Not really. A lot of my reading is done on the bus or in bed.

✓ Did you find it difficult to stick to your reading schedule? If so, how'd ya overcome it?
Since it was supposed to be two 12-hour reading days, I did not manage to stick to the reading schedule but then, I don't have a set schedule either.

✓ Did you discover a new series, author or genre?
A couple of new black authors were on the menu this month and the books were enjoyable, if mostly YA, which isn't always to my liking. I also really enjoyed discovering Jane Harper's writing.

✓ Did you read alone or with partner?
Alone.

✓ Which book format(s) did you use for your RAT? Audio, Paperback/Hardcover (DTB), or eBook OR did you use a mix of formats?
Paperback for all of them.

I wish I could have done like I had planned, so that was a bit of a bummer, but reading is always fun :D

✓ Is this your first time participating in a Read-a-Thon? If so, would you participate again or was once enough? If not, how did this year's RAT compare?
This is my second year, must say I enjoyed last year more, but then I had more time.

✓ Did you choose RAT books in advance? If so, were you able to read all of the books you'd set aside? Did you find yourself straying from your chosen books and reading more based on mood or another reason?
I chose some of my books in advance, which was easy since they were ARCs :)

✓ Did you have a favorite reading spot?
The sofa is always my prefered spot, with one cat sleeping on me and the other one curled up under my blanket.

✓ Did you find it difficult to stick to your reading schedule? If so, how'd ya overcome it?
This year was very difficult, a lot of interruptions and stuff to do in between :(

✓ Did you discover a new series, author or genre?
A few new series from known authors.

✓ Did you read alone or with a partner?
I read alone.

✓ Which book format(s) did you use for your RAT? Audio, Paperback/Hardcover (DTB), or eBook OR did you use a mix of formats?
eBooks for the win!!!

✓ Did you find it fun or was it more of a chore to complete? & Is this your first time participating in a Read-a-Thon?

I've done the SOS RaT several years now - not neccessarily every year. Some years are better than others for me. This year was pretty good and I got into a good flow - which is alway fun

✓ Did you choose RAT books in advance?
From doing these several times I find I do better if I don't have a plan. Then I don't get upset if I don't have time to get to books that "I planned" to read.

✓ Did you have a favorite reading spot?

I read almost anywhere. If I have free time - I read. I also read for at least 10 minutes every night before bed. Biggest change for me this year is that I do a lot more audios than I have in the past. I listen to audios on my commute, when I'm at home hanging out and *whispers* sometimes at work if I need to finish a book I've borrowed from the library, lol

✓ Did you discover a new series, author or genre?

Master and Mercenaries series by Lexi Blake truly became my new crack this year. Holy moly - the first one I read right before this started and was kind of meh for me but from book 2 on I was hooked. I made it through book 7 during the month.

✓ Did you read alone or with partner?

Mostly alone. I do and have in the past spent time reading with my son but not this year.

✓ Which book format(s) did you use for your RAT?

Mix of ebooks and audios all/most on my iPad

As always ~ thanks for setting this up for us. i look forward to it every year.

I hear ya. I started that series in 2012 and have been greedy for releases ever since. Glad you're enjoying it too! There are a couple spin-offs and a four-book crossover :D

Currently all of them are in Audible Escape ....which is no more come November. We'll see how many more I can get to this month as I don't know if these will be part of the 'new' Audible plan going forward
