Play Book Tag discussion

Last year I read the book Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid and greatly enjoyed both the story and creativity of her writing. One True Love, also by Reid, tells about another unique situation. However to me the plot progression of One True Love was more predictable in comparison to the other book.

In One True Love, Emma falls in love with a boy from high school. They move across the country for college and lead exciting lives with travel and adventure. Emma and Jesse marry, but just short of their one year anniversary Jesse goes missing after a helicopter he is in crashes. He is declared dead.

Emma has fallen apart and needs to make adjustments to help deal with her grief. She moved back to the small town in Massachusetts where she grew up and goes to work in the books store owned by her parents. It is the life she went to California to escape, but now that she is older she finds peace and happiness in it. She even reconnects and gets engaged to a man she knew when growing up.

The twist is that Jesse is not dead. He has been found. Emma does not know what to do or who she should be with in the end. Both Sam and Jesse have good qualities, but Emma has changed.

The author does a good job of revealing other character perspectives through their conversations with Emma. I also like how the Reid added a book store in the novel. Like many readers I enjoy stories that include other books. One True Love is cute and a fast read.
