Oh, hard one! I think my favorite character would also be Nova because the character was very well written, her flaws, conflicts, and not knowing where she belonged. And of course, her abilities are awesome!

Yes! I've got a Nova lover! I also really like Oscar. Just sayin'.

Well I mean I think Phobia is pretty fun, in a bad guy kind of way. I also do like Cyanide though. Max is my favorite I think. He’s just so cool.

But Red Assassin is awesome too."
Yeah, she is. But I like Oscar's personality. Do you know who I don't like? Monarch.

On the Anarchist's side, I like Phobia best (beside Nova, of course). But I really liked Leroy (Cyanide) at the end (Supernova). He seemed so father-like to Nova.

Yeah, Phobia's awesome. In the creepy, evil way.
There's one thing that I want to get someone else's view on. Who's the hero and who's the villain?
Nightmare/Insomnia (Nova McLain/Artino) - Well, in the end, it seems like Nova's the hero. But, she originally was a spy who joined the Renegades and delivered all their secrets to the Anarchists. She lied, betrayed, etc. Then she betrayed Ace. Hero? Villain? I'm going with a hero.
Sketch/The Sentinel (Adrian Everhart) - It's very hard to find things wrong with Adrian. So he's a hero, right? Maybe. But... I have thoughts about this, too. Keep reading.
Max - Hero. Hero all the way.
Captain Chromium - I never really liked Captain Chromium. Personally, I think the council made some pretty stupid rules. Yeah, their 'code'. Now, we could call the Captain a hero. But... is he? He helped develop a weapon [Agent N (sorry if you haven't read Archenemies)] to use against Prodigies. Prodigies that didn't adhere to their 'code'. No trial. Just neutralize them. It's all based on the 'team's' judgment. Agent N, which eventually got used against the Renegades. Smart move? I think not. So... hero? Villain?
Ace Anarchy (Alec Artino)/Anarchists - He's a villain, obvious, right? Hm. Consider this:
"We are not villains," said Ace, one hand tightening into a fist. "That may be the portrait that our enemies have painted for us, but we will not let it define us. We are freethinkers. Revolutionaries...." -Archenemies
(Supernova spoilers ahead). Now, Ace did have Nova steal back his helmet so he could take over the world. Sort of. He telekinetically raised all the buildings in Gatlon City, killed Blacklight, used Agent N against the Renegades, and tried to dump Nova over a roof. Oh, and he killed Nova's parents. Well, he sent someone to kill them and pretended to care.
Heroes? Villains? Definitely villains, but with good intentions.
Renegades: The Renegades want everyone to think that they are good and the Anarchists are bad. Vigilantism is bad. Leave it to the Renegades. Sounds great, right? Well, I went on a rant about all the bad things the Anarchists did. It's the Renegades turn.
Told the world that Ace's helmet was destroyed - deceit.
Didn't protect Nova's parents - yes, I know that Georgia was stationed there, originally. But Cap. Chromium was the one who actually promised. He should have been the one on that roof--my opinion.
Created Agent N - more power, exactly what they don't need more of.
Imprisoned Nova and sentenced her to death even though they had no solid evidence - yes, I know she's really Nightmare, but still!
Now, back to Adrian. I actually forgot what I was going to say.
Ok, I'm done with my opinion spouting. Sorry if
I got annoying. What are your ideas? Thoughts?

Ok, here is my opinion:
Nova: Conflicted
Sketch: Also conflicted
Captain and the council: Conflicted
Anarchist: Conflicted
Renegades: Almost too conflicted
Yeah, this book is so conflicted. I mean, we can see Nova's thoughts clearly, but for everyone else...
I usually take the hero's side in books but... in Renegades, no.

Yeah, I totally get what the Anarchists were trying to do. Just, Ace's "Turn us into gods" speech... yeah.

I think that they are all morally grey characters, minus Max and a few others.Nova and Adrian are both huge anti-heroes. I mean... they both have secret identities that want to kill each other. They both have questionable alliances.
I think that sketch’s team was a group that wasn’t actually too grey as a whole.
The Anarchists though... they’re all over the map. Phobia and Ace are probably the greyest of all. Honey and Cyanide weren’t too grey but they were still grey.
Max is the most morally good character. Spoiler alert, Max gives up the massive amount of power at the end of Supernova to give everyone else all of the power.
The council was not my favorite bunch of people. I mean they created a serum that could literally strip someone of their power. They really aren’t the best people.
Same, same, same, same here!
I don't think that there was a clear border between good and evil, it's just your pure opinion.

This book was amazing, the only part that was confusing was the SuperNova star part."
Well, when Max put on the helmet, he took in all the prodigious powers. If you remember, Milly told Nova about the theory that said that there was a supernova that gave humans their powers. When Max stole the powers (bands of power/light, whatever), he became that star. Nova told him to let it go and then we had our supernova. Hence, the title Supernova.

Honestly, I think it was pretty clear where Honey's loyalties lay. And Phobia's. Leroy-definitely gray. I suppose you could say Ace was gray, but... was he? He knew exactly what he wanted to do from the beginning. Prodigy rights, destroy the Renegades and turn all the prodigies who followed him into gods.
Also, when you say'gray', do you mean not knowing where they stand? Or bad?

To get the discussions started, who's your favorite character, and why?
Here's mine: Nightmare/Nova; because she has the power of never falling asleep. Think of all the writing I could do with that time!
