All of chapter 10 is relevant to today. It could have been written today. I posted some quotes in the appropriate thread.
Especially the Last sentece powerful. It would not be The First time that G.K. Chesterton and Hilaire Belloc Will be right on their prophecies however they have ever been optimistics they have never thought in the defeat. This give us Hope.
I wonder what he'd say about the last 100 years! Europe is almost completely secular and hostile to traditional Catholic values, yet it's managed to come together politically and economically.Sadly, Ireland has also become largely secular in recent years.
What he says in te final chapter about people believing things just because they're often repeated in print is certainly much more powerful with our mass and social media and "fake news." I've noticed even supposedly neutral "fact-checking" sources come up with competing evaluations of the same statement.
I think he wouldn't be surprised about the developments in the last 100 years, since he was already describing or anticipating them. But he'd probably be sad.
