Geoff (geoffgreer) In the shortform video (TV) category, nominate something that isn't Game of Thrones or Doctor Who. They're both going to be there so it'd be nice to not have multiple episodes from the same series. Maybe 'Person of Interest'. I don't watch it but its scifi leaning and the general opinion about the show is overwhelmingly positive.

Oh yeah, forgot about that show. It definitely deserves a nomination.

I love person of interest, but I'd vote for Orphan Black over it.

Richard Eyres (richardeyres) One of my reading goals this year is to read more short fiction. This will involve some anthologies, magazines and tor.com. So far I have read one - stupid workload getting in the way.

I didn't read much short fiction. I generally don't like it. Or at least I don't like a lot of it.

I did enjoy Unlocked: An Oral History of Haden's Syndrome.

Not sure it deserves a Hugo though.

Lindsay | 546 comments I've read an unusual amount of short fiction this year, at least for me anyway.

I thought Neil Clarke's Upgraded anthology was excellent. From that anthology I thought "Always the Harvest" by Yoon Ha Lee, "No Place to Dream, but a Place to Die" by Elizabeth Bear, "The Regular" by Ken Liu and "Tender" by Rachel Swirsky were my favorites.

I also enjoyed Kaleidoscope by Alisa Krasnostein and Julia Rios and in particular "Walkdog" by Sofia Samatar. Lots of good stories in that one, but I think that's the award pick.

tor.com has some good ones this year. I really enjoyed The Litany of Earth by Ruthanna Emrys and Mad Maudlin by Marie Brennan, but my tor.com (and most short fiction) reading fell off towards the latter half of last year.

I also thought that Seanan McGuire's story in Lightspeed Magazine Each to Each was excellent and a bit of a darker turn for her.

Unfortunately I haven't gotten to Reach for Infinity by Jonathan Strahan yet, which is the other anthology I expect to see good works from.

Short fiction is a hard category to be across completely and you often find real gems (the Samatar work for instance) hidden away in hard to reach places that may not get much exposure to people who are actually doing the nominating.

Lindsay | 546 comments Oh, also the Chuck Wendig story in John Joseph Adams's HELP FUND MY ROBOT ARMY!!! anthology.

I really wanted to read more short fiction in 2014 but failed miserably. Except for the reading I did for last years Hugos my short fiction has been exclusively older collections. I found a nice review page over on Locus and was going to use that to narrow down my choices but never followed through.

Here's the link for the Locus short fiction reviews if anyone is interested.

I was very impressed by Kingslayer By Author Honor Raconteur

Something's very wrong with the Hugos if The Three Body Problem doesnt get nominated
