Have you read a book with a horrible ending. Not horribly written but just horrible to think about it. I recently completed The Whisper Man where the reader is left with the ending impression that the father murders his adult son. We don't know for sure but that's the impression I'm left believing. It's a great ending but horrible too. Any else remember any "horrible" endings.

I can't recall a horrible ending, in particular, but I read a horrible book a while back and had to read it because I was leading the discussion. If I recall the ending was as bad as the rest of the book but I think I blocked out a lot of that story.

The characters in the book were abducted and abused repeatedly (which was a little far fetched in my mind). I read about the author and she stated she does in fact horribly abuse her characters. Personally, it felt to me like lazy writing. Let me make the story about the horrible abuse vs. actually telling a story.

Thanks for the warning Sheri. I’ll definitely skip this one.
For me it was Behind Her Eyes. Ending was stupid & a total cop out. Will never read anything by her again.

I didn't say that correctly. The book is really good. I'd definitely recommend it and the discussion on it was great. It's just the ending is so horrible it's hard to believe that things like that can happen but the ending is part of what made it so good. It's hard to explain.

Thanks on the heads up on Behind Her Eyes. I've not read anything or even heard of this author.
