Nope.I read only for the pleasure of enjoying the story. I spent too much time in college highlighting critical information in textbooks to do it to books I read for entertainment.
Depends on the purpose of the book. Usually I dont mark my books unless I'm reading about mental health or theology. otherwise if I like a quote, I'll write it down in a separate notebook. It's rare though.

After I got out of nursing school I couldn't make myself read anything for about two years. I do try to mark good comments or quotes if I'm planning on discussing a book either online or at my in person book club. Problem is I can never find my marker when it's time :). Jessica, I need to take your advice and write things down on a separate paper.

If I read to prepare for a presentation or training I mark it and put notes in a notebook. Colored highlighters and note cards! I guess a bit obsessed..... maybe..... I am reading more for pleasure now and leave those books unmarked!!! I use great bookmarks now and a bit obsessed with cute and unique bookmarks!! My son and daughter in law showed me how they love to bend the paperback books over on the spine..... I about gasped and I know my blood pressure raised a bit.....

I would have gasped too.

I would have gasped too.
No, I will make a note of special phrasing or events for my review, but on a separate paper. Aside, I do correct typo and errors of grammar.
Sorry but they drive me crazy.
I have a file in my computer for notes I'll use in crafting my review.Like Karen, I comment on errors in words and grammar.
I use my “notes” app on the tablet for every book read.Because I read so many series books, I’d never remember plots, characters, what annoyed or pleased from one book to the next without notes.
Handy for book discussions!
grammar errors drive me crazy too.
I used to use my notes app but something happened, not sure what I think it was the last upgrade, and my notes disappeared.

If I am reading a print book I own, I will correct the typos. Most of my reading are fiction ebooks on my ereader. I can take notes there, but I usually don't. I will bookmark the page and highlight the excerpt. But I always have a pen and notepad/notebook next to my reading chair so I can quickly jot notes. I need to do this especially for any ARCs I'm reading.

How awful Sheri!
No. I definitely wouldn’t for my nicer hardcovers, but I never found notes/highlighting helpful. They tend to be distracting and defeats the purpose. I’ll xerox, or since now many books are on ebook or online, I can screenshot it. I’m more likely to want a whole page, but not EVERY page, so screenshots can be helpful.
I take notes in a notebook when I'm leading a discussion (which I hate to do because I feel like I'm terrible at it). Otherwise, if I'm reading for please, not usually.
