This thread is where you can chat about all things PIFM, ask questions and once books have been read, review your selected reads. A complete free for all.

PLEASE NOTE:

PIFM is meant to be FUN and not to be taken seriously. I would appreciate it if all participants just chilled and not get worked up about voting, who votes, who doesn't, etc. Please bear in mind that some will just want to vote, many don't come on everyday and most of us have time constraints. I just want a relaxed approach to it all and for you all to just enjoy the process! I'd really appreciate your courtesy in this matter. Many thanks.

Vicki Willis I love your idea, Brenda of taking all the second place winners from last year and using them for this year's list.
I am going to copy you (if you don't mind).

I had one month that all the books are read! So yay for me.
I have a couple of ties so I will add 2 books to the list. And I have one list that I ended up taking the ones I didn't read off my TBR (go figure).
SO I end up with 16 choices.
I am going to put them in groups of 4 so it will last 4 months for me.

message 6: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis Oh! And on an interesting note, when I scrolled down to find the archive for all of the previous threads, I did not realize how many threads there are on this group! I was amazed!
I guess I don't ever scroll down past PIFM!

message 7: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 2431 comments Vicki, I don’t mind at all!

A Good Thriller has really grown over the last 6 or 7 years. PIFM is like a subset of members. I wish more would participate!

Perri | -50 comments Out of curiosity I looked and this is the oldest post I could find. So, we'll be celebrating five years in a few weeks !

Brenda | 2431 comments Perri, I went back and looked at the Chatter thread. I think that’s when we started the three separate threads. Do you recall the chaos and rioting and laughter when we tried this initially? I wonder where Janet archived those early threads. I’d love to read them. So many people participated and many are still active members of A Good Thriller.

I'll bet it was chaos. IT must've been really fun keeping track.

Kirsten (kmcripn) Hey, I notice a few of us put The Vanishing Half down as a choice for January. Any interest in a buddy read?

Oh gosh, it was crazy when it was all in one thread! Janet's idea to separate was genius.

I'm interested, and on hold for it at the library, so not sure when I'd get it. I'll see how the Overdrive Ebooks list looks

message 14: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis I am interested too. Let me check the library.

message 15: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis I hope some more people come to vote. So far there are only 5 of us and my votes are split 2-2!

It's crazy. Last month I had a 4-way split.

message 17: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 2431 comments I’ve got a 2-2 tie as well.

Vicki Willis Happy New Year everyone!

I am going to read both choices that were tied this month. One is The Boy at the Door by Alex Dahl The Boy at the Door which I already started. It is Scandinavian and sometimes I struggle with those kinds of books, but we will see how it goes.

The other is Storm Season by J.T. Ellison Storm Season which is a novella so it is short.

I also have a tie so I have decided to read both... Hell or High Water (Deep Six, #1) by Julie Ann Walker Hell or High Water and The Cafe by the Sea (Mure, #1) by Jenny Colgan The Cafe by the Sea

message 21: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis Awesome Patricia! We are starting the year strong!

How you feeling?

message 22: by Patricia (last edited Jan 02, 2021 01:43PM) (new)

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments I am doing great. I believe I have the world's greatest doctor. Not even a scar. Today I have decided to do some serious cleaning (and read later).

By the way, my doctor was really happy to receive the Henrietta Lacks book. I told him that I will expect a book report at my next appointment.

message 23: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis I just finished my first book of the year and it was a GREAT one!

Creatures of Appetite Creatures of Appetite by Todd Travis

I am giving it 5 stars.
It is a trifecta of a book because:
1. It was actually my October Read for PIFM
2. It has been on my shelf since 2014 and I am working on clearing that shelf this year
3. It was a book that I already owned so it gets one off of that shelf too!

The ONLY thing about it is that it is the first of a 5 book series, so that means I just added 4 books to my TBR! smh

February threads are now up.

Enjoy your reads!

message 25: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments I finished The Cafe by the Sea (Mure, #1) by Jenny Colgan The Cafe by the Sea. I prefer mysteries and thrillers but I enjoyed this romance set on a fictional Scottish island. Also, the food sounded wonderful.

message 26: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis That is good Patricia. I like when I read something different and it turns out to be just the right thing.

I finished my first read of January The Boy at the Door The Boy at the Door by Alex Dahl .
I liked it ok. It was a little slow for me though.

I am going to read another this month and I am excited because it was one of the first books I put on my list in 2014. So I want to get it off.
Storm Season by J.T. Ellison

message 28: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis I finished a second TBR pick for January. I had a tie this month and decided to start the year with 2.
Storm Season by J.T. Ellison Storm Season was a 5 star read for me!
Characters from 3 popular series from 3 different authors written into 3 novellas. It was a win win win.

message 29: by Patricia (last edited Feb 06, 2021 10:23PM) (new)

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments I finished my second winner Hell or High Water (Deep Six, #1) by Julie Ann Walker Hell or High Water. I thought it was going to be mainly a thriller but a large percentage of it was erotic. Not really my cup of tea but I actually read the whole thing. Parts of it was pretty thrilling though.

That one sounds good. I haven't thought much about reading novellas but I am changing my mind.

Yes, great the success of PIFM.

We started the three threads in 2015, when Janet kindly separated the threads and took the lead in the threads.

I am so pleased as this idea grew from a first post in 2014.

When I placed 10 books on my shelf on here, for members to pick for me, and loads did.

Now It is so popular and different from other groups, and you all know each other so well and welcome new members to it.

Thanks, and yes Brenda I wish many more would take part, in this group and the whole group.

We do have many join but do not post, their choice but it does sadden me.

But the important thing is for our regular/older members have threads like this to keep them happy and enjoy.

Yep. Love that it's been a great success. Long may it continue. March threads going up soon.
