I read When They Call You a Terrorist by Patrisse Cullors-Khan (one of the founders of BLM) for this prompt. Truly and incredible read. 10/10 recommend. Difficult content, incredible piece.
I read 'A Lesson Before Dying' by Ernest S. Gaines. What an excellent book! This is a fictional book about a young black man who is unjustly accused of murder and sentenced to death. A must-read!
I read Lakewood by Megan Giddings. It sucked me in right from the beginning. It received many accolades when it was published last year - all well-deserved.
