I hope you enjoy ‘The Girl in the Tower’, it was my favourite book from the winternight trilogy.

. This is going to get a special rant. This is a book about vampire pirates in the year 2500. I wasn't expecting a literary master piece at all when I entered this. Honestly I was just expecting some good old stupid fun. Somehow the author managed to make this boring. First of all the year 2500 thing meant nothing. This could have been set in the 1800's just as easily. There was so much squandered potential for cool tech mixed with old pirate ways. Think laser muskets or what not. Then for a book about vampire pirates the actual vampire pirates were barely in the book and when they were there they did nothing. The author even screwed up ninjas in this. I finished this book bored and just disappointed.

I'm interested to see what you think of The Midnight Library... I've heard really good things about it! And it sounds really interesting!

I just started the series The Selection by Kiera Cass on the first, and i'm already on book three!!! WOAH.
I started The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. 91 chapters to get through! Game on!!
I decided to give up with
for now, I only had 11 days left on my Adobe reader to finish and I wasn't going to so I didn't really want to push it. I'll mark it as DNF on Netgalley and maybe come back to it another time. I have too many books on my Netgalley shelf to be dithering with ones I'm not going to finish! Instead, I'll be moving on to

Honestly nothing really, it was fine, but I only had 11 days left on my Adobe Reader (it was a Netgalley book so you only get 55 days before it expires) and I was only about 4 chapters in, and I didn't want to race through it and not really enjoy it, so I thought it would be better to come back to it later when there was no clock on when I needed to finish it. I also have A LOT of books on my Netgalley shelf to get through, so I thought it was better to move on from one I probably wasn't going to finish in time!
I will hopefully be ready to join you with ACOWAR by Friday, I'm really close to the end of my current read.

-Black Beauty by Anna Sewell
-Ballet Shoes by Noel Streatfeild (her Shoes books in general are really good, if you like this one, I'd also recommend Dancing Shoes)
-What Katy Did by Susan Coolidge
I don't know if it necessarily counts as a classic, but it is an older book, Flambards by KM Peyton is another really good one.

- Frankenstein by Mary Shelly (I didn't enjoy this one much, but apparently most people do so I'd say give it a try)
- Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens
- The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
- The Complete Sherlock Holmes (I don't know it counts as a classic but I liked it anyway)
- Narnia by C.S. Lewis (again, I don't know if it counts. I didn't like most of the stories, but again, a lot of people do)
- Les Misérables by Victor Hugo
One I started but never finished is The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. English was a bit too difficult for me back then but I absolutely loved the parts I was able to read and now his other books are on my tbr.

and it was so good! I'm so sad it's the end of the series, for now anyway. I was gonna say that I was gonna miss Gin, but honestly, I'm probably gonna re-read some of my favorite books in the series this year lol

Looks like everyone has some good reads going on for the start of the year! I'm starting out with a revisit to City of Glass on audio - never finished the series - plus all the new spin off series' - so refreshing to continue! Also working on rereading the Wayward Children series before the new one later this month!

today. Finishing off my Covenant re-read. I love this series so much.
Finally finished
and off the mark for my 2021 reading challenge! I started this one all the way back in November thinking that despite it's considerable size, it would be super quick to read because Skulduggery always has short chapters. Oh poor sweet summer child. Yeah this one definitely dragged, and I was so excited for it after the way the last one ended but with numerous irrelevant subplots and way, way too much "journeying" I think it's fair to say this is a Skulduggery book that won't live in my heart. Oh well, hopefully the next one will be better! Going to finally dive into
next.
Another week and I've read more books.
-3 StarsThird time reading this and I'm warning up to this one finally. I love the series but I've never been a super fan of the first couple of books. I think I just have more context for what is going and more of an established connection to the characters
-4 StarsThe latest book in a group read of the Valdemar series. I rather enjoyed this one and I'm interested to see where this trilogy is going to go.
- 3 StarsThe latest manga rabbit hole I've fallen into. It's a fairly gory death game kind of manga. The overall mystery of what is going on is my biggest driving force to keep reading right now.

and I'm a couple of chapters in and I'm enjoying it so far. It's kind of early to really say one way or another but it's starting out alright.

and am unsure how I really feel about it. The last 15% or so was quite good, the rest I again found so slow. I do think its a me problem more than the book. Unsure if I'll finish the trilogy

Another Netgalley arc bites the dust,
wasn't really holding my attention, I was around 100 pages in and feeling bored, so I've decided to move on. Going for a surefire winner this time
as I love this series!

Ugh! I loved the first book, The Bone Season, but I was not able to get through the second book in the series. Glad to hear that you enjoyed it. Hoping this one is a winner for you!

I still submitted feedback for it, so it will still count towards my ratio.
Ah really, we were the complete opposites there! I wasn't actually a massive fan of the first book in the series, but the second book really grabbed me and it's just got better from there. I hope so, we've been waiting almost four years for this one, so it would be a real letdown if I didn't enjoy it!

which again is a re-read! I have a bad memory so I like to re-read before the next book in the series. As I'm in Jen's ARC team I should get book 3 in March sometime so it seemed like a good time to start my re-read/listenAnd I've started reading

and it was great! I love the setting in this one and the fight at the end was very creative! I loved it! I kinda want to read more Elemental Assassin... maybe. I think I'm gonna try and finish Queen of Air and Darkness, and then we'll see about more Gin Blanco. Lol.
