Gayatri Saikia | per_fictionist (goodreadscomper_fictionist) | 33 comments Of musings and nonchalant ramblings, of hope and dreams that linger on you for a lifetime, of romances untenable and our avarice for everything materialistic, Laudeep Singh speaks of it all in his free verse collection of poems, Death is my only beloved.

Apparently so, the poet claims that the book doesn't offer any solace to it's reader, and he keeps his word. But what it promises to confer on the reader is company of not being alone.

❝The moon looks down upon me akin to a Freudian spy
who is oblivious of the subtleties that human beings go by
each year,
each month,
each day,
each hour,
each minute,
and each second
of their lives.❞

Everything mundane and often left unnoticed finds themselves drawn into his poems with equal grace as human emotions.
I couldn't help but be in awe of the richness of his language and how even the most ridiculous of the titles made so much sense in the end eg. 'OUR SLEEPING BED IS OUR GRAVE' a quite dramatic metaphor but gosh did it manage to leave a mark on me!

Highly recommended!

❝Death is my only beloved as only death deserves to love me, for only she knows my worth.❞
