Play Book Tag discussion

This story covers a pivotal year, 1938, in Katey Kontent's life when she is 25/26. She and a girlfriend Eve live at a ladies boarding house and have entry level jobs in NYC. Katey is a secretary for a law firm. Eve is determined to climb the social ladder and draws Katey along. They meet well-to-do handsome Tinker and move into a faster affluent crowd. Eventually they need to make some hard choices that change their life.

I did not feel connected to many of the characters in this book and found the first 2/3 a slow go. Lots happens in the last third so it got better. However, still not as good as the author's Gentleman in Moscow.
