EEEKk! I LOVE this!!!!! I actually wanted to write marionette story, it was kind of a darker spin of (Disney's) Pinocchio.
I think I actually kind of like the new ending. It just makes the other scene come to life a bit more.

Their strings keep them up and help them stand tall
With paint on their faces, most smile and laugh
But frowns will appear on all but a half
loose joints and clear strings
wood limbs, the bell rings
the show will now start and time seems to speed
the stories are deep to all those that heed
Crowds laugh and they cry
shake hands, say goodbye
alone in a room with wood all around
the puppeteer falls on the ground
The street corner’s quiet, where, once, there was noise
people walk by and mourn the dead toys
