What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

Genre: Science-Fiction

Published: Around 1950

Plot: An astronaut is stuck in space and needs urgent medical supplies to be sent from Earth. Team from Earth decides to send a quick spacecraft to meet that astronaut's need. Due to the urgency, that spacecraft which carries that supplies needs to be weighed precisely low so that it can travel at desired speed. Unfortunately, that astronaut's daughter boards the spacecraft without anyone knowing. During the ascent midway, the astronaut who is delivering the supplies found that girl and left with the choice of saving the girl or her father as the spacecraft is overweighed due to her presence. Girl is let go in the middle of the trip and the book starts thereby imagining the things that girl go through being left out in space all alone in the air.

I guess she is 18 years old! This book was actually a classic that had been read to us during my schooling :)
