It's about a young girl (I don't know the exact age but she's probably younger than 15-14, and has an older sister) and I remember that she goes to the same school AND class as her sister, which I recall confused me a bit.
She stumbles upon an old weak man hiding and he looks 'strange' in a way, she starts to meet him daily and we get to understand that he actually is a representation of winter ( or IS winter ).
Spoiler ( from what I remember ):: In the near end of the book, a man on a horse (?) laughing and young kills the old man, and I believe he was the representation of spring/or summer (I could be wrong, but I don't know why I remember the young man as 'bright', maybe summer)
And so turns it the summer young man is actually the same one as the winter guy, same person different time (?) and so summer kills winter, and that's how the cycle continues.
I also remember vague details about the cover, It had a tree-like man (side profile) with tree branches sticking out of his head.
No sci-fi, and thank you.
