Ruby was on her bed sketching the lake that was right outside her window.

Valerie walked in and threw her bag onto her bed. She groaned and flopped down on the soft mattress.

Ruby saw Val and waved

She nodded in her direction. She sat up and started to unpack.

Ruby tilted her head, "You don't speak much do you?", she observed, even though she was Rapunzels daughter she was more like her dad than anything.

"Only to my friends" Val said simply.

"Okay", Ruby saw her name, "So Valerie right?" she said as she put her sketchbook away.

"Yep" She sat a picture of her mom on the shelf by her bed.

Ruby saw the picture, "Valerie Gothel..." she said as she looked at her

"Uh huh"

Ruby was quiet after that, she was just looking st the ceiling

"Who's your parents?" she asked although she had the feeling she had seen her before.

"Eugene Fitzherbert...need I say more?", she says to Val as she was looking for the satchel.

She glared at her. "What" How did I get stuck with her? Val thought sourly.

Ruby was looking under the bed when the room phone rang, she got up to get it, "What?!"

Her. Whose parents ruined her life.

Ruby hung up the phone and grabbed a pillow to scream into.

Val stopped glaring for a second. "What?" She couldn't stand the sound of screaming. It reminded her some things better kept secret.

Ruby stopped screaming and looked at her, "It's nothing!" she snapped, she was known for snapping when her parents tell her something that makes her more like her dad than mom.

"Okay, whatever." She put her hands up defensively. "Its none of my business"

"Sorry..." she says after she snapped, a letter came through the window. Ruby didn't want read, "Hey, Valerie?" Can you read it?"

"Sure" she shrugged. "Read it out loud?"
