LAPD detective Harry Bosch is a loner and a nighthawk. One Sunday he gets a call out on his pager. A body has been found in a drainage tunnel off Mulholland Drive, Hollywood. At first sight, it looks like a routine drugs overdose case, but the one new puncture wound amid the scars of old tracks leaves Bosch unconvinced.

To make matters worse, Harry Bosch recognises the victim. Billy Meadows was a fellow 'tunnel rat' in Vietnam, running against the VC and the fear they all used to call the Black Echo. Bosch believes he let down Billy Meadows once before, so now he is determined to bring the killer to justice.

L.A. Kent | 3925 comments I enjoyed this one, but then I think most of the Connelly books are great. Black Echo has twists and turns and back stories to maintain interest right to the end! Mind Trips back to Vietnam times add to the interest too.

Graham Garrity (grahamgarrity) | 45 comments I read this years ago and it got me hooked on the Harry Bosch novels. I think Michael Connelly is head and shoulders above any other author in his genre.

If you want a good Harry Bosch audiobook Lost Light is fantastic. It is narrated by David Soul and he does a magnificent job. My vision of Bosch has always been of an ageing detective with a gruff voice. When I heard David Soul speak I got the chills. I felt like Bosch was speaking directly to me.

L.A. Kent | 3925 comments I'm just re-reading all the Connellys and loved Lost Light too. Just started the last - Void Moon, which so far has no Bosch or Haller appearances yet (I don't think they are in this one) but it is still very very readable and too hard to put down!!

Dave | 2 comments Very enjoyable. This is the second Michael Connolly I have read and I will be reading more. In the version I read there was a brief breakdown of how Harry had been created by the experiences of the author. V Good indeed and highly recommended.

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments I thought it was a bit of a coincidence. You don't think one of the group did it do you?
I hope so, at least we won't have manky sandwiches in Biggleswade for our next group get together. Shall I book for a nice hotel in Barbados?
