Challenge Corner discussion

Since high school began, Alison Sanger and Ethan Molloy have competed on almost everything. AP classes, the school paper, community service, it never ends. If Alison could avoid Ethan until graduation, she would. Except, naturally, for two over-achieving seniors with their sights on valedictorian and Harvard, they share all the same classes and extracurriculars. So when their school’s principal assigns them the task of co-planning a previous class’s ten-year reunion, with the promise of a recommendation for Harvard if they do, Ethan and Alison are willing to endure one more activity together if it means beating the other out of the lead.

But with all this extra time spent in each other’s company, their rivalry begins to feel closer to friendship. And as tension between them builds, Alison fights the growing realization that the only thing she wants more than winning…is Ethan.

Chapter 1-14 (view spoiler)[ The rivalry is pretty ridiculous. Does it even matter really? And I think Alison is pretty harsh on her sister. I'm sure it was awful for your fiancé to dump you. I think Alison doesn't really get how the world beyond high school is. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 15-28 (view spoiler)[ I like that Alison has stopped always arguing with Ethan. Maybe it will help her see him as an actual person and they can have real conversations. Also, their competitiveness makes them look immature to others (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 29-45 (view spoiler)[ I knew she'd fail her driving test since she was so preoccupied with Ethan's texts. It's good for her to fail for once, she needs to know it's okay if she isn't perfect (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 46-end (view spoiler)[ I'm glad they worked everything out between them, I think they'll be a good couple in college when they don't compete as much.

This was pretty cute overall though I did get annoyed with Alison thinking she was better than everyone else (hide spoiler)]

Ch 41-50: (view spoiler)[Okay, yes, she became likable when she failed at something because honestly - people fail all the time. It's not a big deal. It happens. Then she backtracks a little and becomes annoying. WHY?!?! (hide spoiler)]
