Peter Darcy (peterdarcy) | 4 comments Joan of Arc is easily my favorite saint - okay she's in competition with Thomas Aquinas and a few others - but she is truly incomparable. Some years ago I read Mark Twain's book on her (which he said was his favorite book to write) and I was entirely hooked on her after that. The book by John Beevers entitled simply, St. Joan of Arc, is a very excellent, short, and interesting description of the saint's life and heroics. It's dated - 1959 - but then again, when you're writing about someone who lived 600 years ago, a few decades is kind of irrelevant. Wonderful book. Wonderful saint.

I am reading Joan of Arc in Her Own Words, extracts from various prime sources.
The movie Trial of Joan of Arc directed by Robert Bresson is excellent. The dialogue is solely extracts from her trial.
