Holland Vande Krol 13. The Penguin Book of Japanese Short Stories by Jay Rubin

As with any collection of short stories, these were a little hit or miss, but I enjoyed the collection overall. This particular book was a treat to myself when I was finally able to safely browse my independent bookstore again last year.

Holland Vande Krol 14. Luka and the Fire of Life by Salman Rushdie

I picked this book up at my local bookstore last year without realizing that it is a sequel. Fortunately, it can stand alone and is absolutely brilliant. It might be my favorite book of those I've read this year.

Holland Vande Krol 15. Complete Fairy Tales of Oscar Wilde by Oscar Wilde

I love fairy tales and Oscar Wilde happens to be a master of the fairy tale format.

Holland Vande Krol 16. Olive Bright, Pigeoneer (An Olive Bright Mystery, #1) by Stephanie Graves

This was a Goodreads Giveaway and I happened to love it. Unfortunately, it did inspire reading more books that are not on my shelves (Mary Poppins and Agatha Christie novels).

Holland Vande Krol 17. Nature Matrix New and Selected Essays by Robert Michael Pyle

This was another Goodreads giveaway and it was fantastic. Some of the best 'nature' writing available.

Holland Vande Krol 18. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

I picked this up from the Little Free Library last year. Unfortunately, I did watch the movie first, which spoiled the reading experience a bit.

Holland Vande Krol 19. Iceman Awakens by Sharon Krasny

Another Goodreads giveaway completed! This one arrived gift wrapped and autographed just before Christmas last year. It was a quick, enjoyable read.
