I like him but I love maven more...

I don’t even really know. I’ve gone back and forth from the beginning. I’ll explain my team to team switching WITH SPOILERS below.

When Mare met Cal pick-pocketing, I fell in love with him. I’m like. Yes! This is our love interest? Yes!

And then she gets to Whitefire, and then there’s little Maven. I was so mad when she ended up having to be with Maven, but then I’m like oooooh. Forbidden romance. Yes!

And then I start to fall in love with young Maven. He’s more charming. But still Team Cal.

But then I don’t like Cal anymore. He’s not right for Mare. He only wants his throne. Maven wants HER. HE JOINED THE SCARLET GUARD.
But then Cal kisses her. I’m back on Team Cal.

But then Maven kisses her. I’m back on Team Maven.

I love Maven. I LOVE Maven!

Cal betrayed Mare. Nooooooo. I wanted her to be with Cal!

OMG NO WAYYYYYYY. THAT DID NOT JUST HAPPEN NONONONONONONO MAVEN IS NOT THW VILLAIN, NO!

Back on Team Cal.

And forever have I been on Team Cal. I kinda hate him at some point, but I kinda love him in others. I still have to read War Storm. Mare would be a good queen by Carl’s side. I hate Maven. I don’t even care that Cal “betrayed” her at the end of King’s Cage. It didn’t feel like a betrayal, or at least not Maven’s betrayal. Team Cal, I think. Yeah.

okay so im kind of like you but in different ways.
So at the beginning im like yeah hot and like love
but then we met maven, and im like AHAHAHHA. I love him
but then he betrayed her so like oh shit butttttt i didnt ship but still loved him. And during glass sword I was like Mare should amrry herself bc cal was annoying me a lil bit. BUT then in kings cage it was allll so cute and I just couldnt. and Im not gonna spoil war storm but I shipped them at the end of war storm I was just there for the angst. but I still love maven and I will not take any slander on his name.

Spoilers included:

I have no idea how I feel towards him.
I like the fact that he has a personality despite his love for Mare, I understood when he chose the crown over her and kinda liked it because I hate when books make characters throw away all their ambitions and everything they worked for in the name of love.
But I can never define if I’m Team Cal or Maven because they are just so different (It would be unfair to say that I am not team Maven because he was just so broken and helpless)

I liked him at the start but at the end of Kings Cage I was really upset with him. I'll post my Cal part in my King Cage review

Cal: Okay, Okay. I need a seconded to CALM down. Breathe in, Breathe out. Here we go. TURN AROUND AND DON"T LET HER WALK AWAY!!. That was what I was yelling at my book last night when I finished it. You tell me you love her and want to be with her but then you CHOOSE a CROWN AND A Title over MARE, the GIRL THAT YOUR LOVE. Cal better make some better decisions in WAR STORM or I am going to kick his head off for hurting Mare. And if he doesn't, Mare is a strong independent women who doesn't need a man, she will thrive on her own even without you.

I love Cal but sometimes he can be a little inconsiderate of others if he’s so focused on something; that’s what I noticed 🤷🏾‍♀️
