Tea (thistleteastudies) I thought I'd share some of my own work here (my first new topic, scary! :P ). It's honestly been a while since I've created anything, with my last work being the (still incomplete) self portrait at the end of the post. The wooden charm is one of a series I have illustrated digitally, whilst the Bullfinch on beech wood was made with pyrography.

I primarily have a deep enthusiasm for life drawing, portraiture and the natural environment I've grown up with here on the west coast of Scotland. I hope I'll dive back into creating once free time allows.

Thank you so much! :) It was my first time trying anything like sfumato, I'd really love to do more like it.

Heather | 8550 comments Wow, Laura! That looks really great! I love your self-portrait. I don’t do any art myself but I’ve heard that lips are difficult to master. Anyone concur? But I think you have rendered yours beautifully. Keep going with the sfumato!

Tea (thistleteastudies) Thank you everyone! ♥ I think I found the eyes to be the most challenging features; capturing all the tiny details of the iris whilst still retaining the shape of the eye was difficult, and I don't think I did myself any favours from working on such a small scale (smaller than life sized). I found the lips relatively easy in comparison, though I think an open mouth might be another story!

I can see how the eyes would be difficult. Now this is coming from someone who doesn't draw anything. I really like how you have the light reflecting in them. Very well done!
