Cordelia entered the restaurant, ready to eat and focus her mind on something else. She looked around a smile on her face. "This place looks so cool! I can't believe I've never been here!" she says, a wide grin on her face. "I love the design!" her bubbly personality seemed to return. She looked around, her eyes seeming to sparkle.
Eldoris hadn't really thought of the design, but Cordelia remarking on it made his eyes sparkle with the same light. She could always bring the mood up and see beauty in the little things. "Yeah, it really is thought out," he said, causing some Shrimp at a table to look around, trying to see what they saw.
A waiter came towards them, beaming. "Welcome to the Kelp Eatery, Prince Eldoris and Princess Cordelia! It truly is an honor to be serving you. Table for two?" Eldoris nodded and she led them towards a table with a large window, giving a view of the main square and old fashioned buildings.
"Thank you," Eldoris said to the man and sat down, looking through the menu.
Cordelia smiled and looked over the menu after thanking the waiter. "Hmm... something vegan..." she said, moving her finger up and down the menu as she read it. After she had decided, she shut her menu and looked across the table at Eldoris. "What do you plan on getting?" she asked. It had been forever since they could just sit and have a casual conversation. She pulled her hair over her shoulder and smiled. She just wanted to focus on this moment with her brother. He means the world to her. She was happy that she could finally chat.
"Well, the land food does sound interesting. As much as I hate being on land, the food I can eat usually tastes pretty good." He opened up his menu and pointed at one titled 'fruit parfait with honey'. Eldoris had picked it because he had tried some fruit during his trip and had quite enjoyed it. "Have you ever tried land food? I've seen a few restaurants near the surface that have them, but I've only had fruit and that's about it." He could tell she was happy to be with him, to finally have the chance to just relax. Eldoris shared the sentiment. "You know, on land they don't seem to know that Fish people don't eat the same things. I got plenty of weird looks for eating seaweed." Given that seaweed was just a regular snack, it would be laughable to any seafolk.
Cordelia burst out with laughter. "Seaweed?! I don't want to seem mean to land dwellers, however, that's just stupid." She smiled. "Fruit parfait with honey... that sounds yummy! I've never had land food before, but I'd love to try it! Can't be biased based on where it's from, or then I'll never enjoy it." She opened her menu to look at the small blurb about it. "Yeah, I'll give it a go!" She said. "I just realized how scary it must seem to my plant children that I'm vegan! Oh no, does Lucifern think I'm going to eat him!?!"
Eldoris laughed along with her. "Yes, maybe they'd change their mind if they just tried it." He was sure there were land dwellers that wouldn't judge every little thing he did, but there were so many that treated him poorly that he had learned not to expect much.
He suppressed a sigh at the mention of her plant children. "Yeah . . . I don't really think that your plants know about that." Eldoris really didn't get the whole plant mommy thing, but Cordelia had many odd hobbies. Then again, that was what made her special. Eldoris didn't think his hobbies could really compare to hers. "I was thinking that since I have some time, I might start ballet lessons. I've got around two months before I have to attend another meeting and why not better my skills? What're you going to do?"
Cordelia smiled. "Ballet sounds fun! I took it for a long time when I was little, and I loved it." she paused for a moment to think about Eldoris's question. "I think I might get into painting, actually. It sounds really fun, and I heard that it's therapeutic," she said. "Then again, I could always try to get better at my gardening skills." she said. "Ooh, or I could do some more DIY projects!" she said, envisioning making a toy for some of the children in the kingdom.
"Yeah, painting does sound fun. I've never done it, but I know that they end up looking pretty. And for the gardening skills you could just ask anyone from the Rabbit Kingdom," he said jokingly. He grinned at the last bit. "Yes, that'd certainly be very you. We could try making a land dish, now that I think about it? I heard of this thing called an apple pie and apples taste nice so I thought whatever it was would be tasty." When he finished speaking, the waiter came and placed their orders on the table. The parfait had greek yogurt with strawberries, mangoes, bananas, and blueberries mixed in and granola and honey on the top. Eldoris felt his mouth water and began to eat, savoring the delicious sugary flavor from the honey.
Cordelia smiled, a certain glow in her eyes. "I've heard of apple pie before! I think I saw it in one of the cookbooks I have that was written by land dwellers. It looks simple enough, compared to all the cakes I'm used to making." she said, trying to picture it in her head. Looking down at the parfait that was placed in front of her a few seconds ago, she began to feel her mouth water. "This looks so delicious!" she stated with a smile spreading across her face. About a minute later, Cordelia had devoured the parfait and was wiping her face with a napkin. "I feel so full, but I wanna keep eating! That was sooooo good!" Cordelia smiled.
"Yes. I hope I don't screw it up, though," he said, sheepishly grinning. He had never had the knack for cooking, but Cordelia did.
Before Cordelia could even say it looked good, Eldoris was wolfing it down. It was a softer and more fun side to him that he could only show sometimes and around certain people. Cordelia made that easy given her lighthearted attitude and bubbly personality. He looked up from his parfait, saying, "Yeah, it tastes delicious, too."
The fruit tasted unlike anything he'd ever really tried. Very sweet and . . . he couldn't find many words to describe it.
The waiter came back and asked if they'd like dessert. He noticed the man's features were similar to his and looked at his name tag. It said Kinsly. An interesting name, he thought.
Cordelia looked at Eldoris to ask if he wanted dessert, however noticed him looking at the waiter's name tag. Kinsly... interesting... but why is Eldoris interested in who he is? Cordelia thought, ignoring the two men's similarities in appearance. Cordelia brushed it off and returned to her original question. "Do you want any dessert, Eldoris? If you don't think you could eat a whole dessert, we could split it if you'd like." She said with a smile.
WHAT THE FUCK//"
((BABAHAHAHSfdjkljkdlJJKL:DJKL))
"Yeah, that parfait was a lot. We could split it. Speaking of split . . ," he said, pointing to a land dessert titled "banana split". There had been what he believed to be bananas in their parfaits and he thought it tasted good, so why not? He turned to the waiter and said, "One banana split, please." He continued to look at him for just a second, really thinking that the man looked like a relative of his. But he knew all of his relatives, so it must be just coincidence.
WHAT THE FUCK//"
((BABAHAHAHSfdjkljkdlJJKL:DJKL))"
((OH MY GOD SAHKFGAJDHVSAKJDK))
i beg
have them interact and like, exchange information bc kinsly sees the similarites//
Cordelia smiled. "I think I've tried to make that before while you were gone... but the bananas were rotten and it tasted bad." She said with a laugh. "I wouldn't mind trying it again though," she said. Cordelia had only had bananas twice before, in the parfait, and the rotten ones. Shockingly, even after getting sick for nearly a month by eating a rotten banana, she was going into the idea without a bias.
As Kinsly walked to get their order he felt as though something was slightly off, although he wasn't sure what it was. When he eventually returned he finally realized, this was his child. He attempted to hide his suprise, although he had a slightly distressed look when putting down their banana split and two bowls with it. "Have a great meal," he'd say with a slightly shocked look on his face, although he was doing his best to hide his suprise. As he walked away he muttered, "Fuck, I hope he doesn't tell Peleki."
When the waiter named Kinsly approached the expression he made was one of genuine surprise. Eldoris got that often since he was a prince, but just the amount was a bit odd and he never addressed it.
"The waiter seemed really surprised. I wonder if he's a super fan?" he said, having had a few stalkers in his time. His thoughts were drawn back to the banana split and he marveled at it. It looked delicious. He took a bite and closed his eyes in sheer happiness. Happiness at being here with Cordelia and getting to eat this delicious food. "I'm glad we did this," he stated, nearly forgetting they had just earlier killed someone.
Cordelia rolled her eyes when Eldoris brought up Kinsly being a fan. "Believe what you want to," she said sarcastically. She knew of Eldoris' fans, however, didn't like focusing on them.
"I'm glad we did this too. I always enjoy hanging out with you," she said. Cordelia has always admired her big brother since she was a child.
Finally, she took a bite out of the banana split. "How is land food so yummy?!?" she asked herself. She wished this taste would never leave her mouth.
Kinsly attempted to calm himself down, although all his attempts were futile and caused him to be more anxious. He realized he needed to head out to give them their bill, which he knew would only make him more anxious. He would take a few deep breaths then head back into the main room, "Here's your bill." He just noticed Cordelia and realized it likely made him seem more suspicious, although to avoid that he'd just stare ahead at a wall. He was trying to hide the anxious look on his face, although his eyes were dashing around everywhere, giving him away to those who'd pay attention to that.
Eldoris was still smiling from the banana split when Kinsly walked over, bill in hand. While the man didn't seem as shocked as before, his eyes were moving rapidly and he appeared uneasy.
What Eldoris did next was not out of pride or an inflated ego, but merely because he wanted the waiter to be calm.
He took a napkin and took the pen next to the bill and signed his name, then handed it to Kinsly. "Since you gave such great service," he said and smiled the kind of smile that you had practiced for occasions like these. The smile you gave to distant aunts and uncles and spoiled nobles at parties that wanted a piece of you. As much as he hated doing it all those times, now it was not done begrudgingly. The man was just excited.
Cordelia moved her head left and right at a rapid speed, looking at the two in confusion. Noticing Kinsly's eyes, she stopped, looking at him in concern. She didn't point it out, as she could tell Eldoris had already noticed.
After Eldoris had signed the bill, she looked at him, staring into his eyes, then looked in Kinsly's direction, trying to point out his nervous looking eyes. After Kinsly left, she softly said, "Did you notice how nervous he seemed? I'm worried about him..."
Kinsly approached the table, not wearing his nametag because he forget it at home when washing this stupid uniform. "Do you have anything in mind for what'd you'd like to drink?" He'd ask with a fake smile. He felt that his job was boring and repetitive, leading him to slightly hope there was something different that happened today the most interesting thing that happened was somebody ordering about half of the menu and eating it all in one sitting, well there was also seeing Eldoris, but that wasn't interesting.
"Alright, anything specific?" He'd ask, not wanting to give her anything that she wouldn't like. It'd suddenly click, the only person other than him who had a 'Strangely blue tail' was Eldoris. The person was Peleki. Having this sudden realization would cause him to be stressed, although he'd not show it much, other than not being able to make eye contact. "I believe he was here earlier," Kinsly said, his hands shaking slightly. The bubble proved it was Peleki, only her and a few other people could do that. "Oh, it's," he'd pause, trying to prevent his breath from getting shakey, "it's fine." He'd take a few deep breaths, trying to cool off before Peleki could notice he was anxious.
Peleki grinned "Okay, perfect, makes my life easier with my contact." She grinned lazily and leaned back, looking up. "Hey, you have almost the same shade as him! Cool- I've only known of him and his father. Which is strange, because his dad died when I was pregnant. Kinsly was his name." She seemed loose enough to smile, twisting the rings on her left hand.
"Oh, yeah I-I noticed that as well," He'd say, incredibly glad he left his nametag at home. "Well I'm kin-" He'd cut himself off before he could say Kinsly, "I'm Kingston." His hand would extend for a handshake, although he wasn't sure if he wanted to. He was scared Peleki would suddenly recognize him and get incredibly upset that he's alive. "Well, if that's it I'll go get your drink," He'd say, just trying to get away from this situation, although Kinsly was unsure if Peleki was done talking to him. He felt a pit grow in his stomach just thinking about how upset Peleki would be with him.
He felt his heart stop from hearing Peleki say his name, but it felt slightly nostalgic to him. "I know it was stupid of me, but I didn't want to end up like my father," his mother always told him stories of how his father was such a good person before he was born. "I didn't want to hurt you or the child, but I realize my method wasn't a good way of preventing that," he was glad to finally be able to say this, it had been bothering him ever since he faked his death. Why didn't he tell her sooner? "If you don't forgive me I understand and that's completely fine," He had played out scenarios like this in his head over and over, which was the only reason he was able to compose the words. He still felt horrible, but it was a bit less since he got to tell Peleki his reasoning.
"I understand those conditions," He wasn't sure what he expected other than her being incredibly upset. "I'm sorry, I just," he'd pause, taking a deep breath in, "I thought about how stupid I was every day and how you'd suffer negatively from it, One of my biggest regrets is ever doing that, I know it was so fucking stupid of me and you have all rights to hate me." He partially knew this would be the consequence for his stupid for quite a long time after faking his death.
"Oh, I didn't? I apologize," He'd pause for a moment, "I did care for you, I just wasn't sure how to show the care." He felt horrible still. "I was trying to protect you from what I might become, I realize now that I was being reckless and it was a horrible way to get around with it when we could've talked it out," He'd look around the room, feeling as though this would be much easier if he had a drink, although he knew Peleki likely wouldn't like that too much. He'd look at the clock and begin, "I'll have to get back to work soon, we can continue this at my lunch break, I apologize."
Peleki roughly stood, glaring at him. "I pray he never finds you. You're a disappointment. And selfish and- and-" She shoved him, stomping out. Her hair whisped around her head furiously, the stark black locks messy.
Kinsly nodded and simply said, "I understand." That was all he could manage, yet he had so much to say. He knew most things would just dig himself a deeper hole, resulting in Peleki hating him more than she already does. Why had he faked his death? He was so stupid for doing that. They could've had such a life together, yet he ruined that. For some stupid ass reason, he ruined all of that.
Eldoris entered into the restaurant after Cove. He'd been here before with Cordelia, but now his heart was racing so much faster. He looked around in search of the man that was his father. It certainly didn't take long, everyone in the room was staring straight at him.
Had they been there only a few minutes earlier, he could have witnessed the end of the argument between his mother and father. Now all Eldoris saw was the awkward aftermath.
