Azalea was talking to their stuffies, telling them how they missed Orchi, but Carnation was still giving them good company, even though he left a few times to get things. They talked a lot about Orchi, mainly because he hadn't traveled for a long time, but they knew they would have to deal with it for a few days.
They greatly jumped when the door opened, but they realized it was just Carnation. "You scared me! I thought you were somebody trying to hurt me," they felt comforted knowing that Carnation was there and could protect them.
They'd stand up, pulling their sweater down to cover a bit more of their thighs because they had been scratching and didn't want Carnation to see. They'd quickly prance over to hug Carnation. "What did you need?" they'd ask, slightly excited to be talking with Carnation right now. They'd be holding a stuffie that was a blue penguin-type creature, but they'd be cuddling close to it while still standing up.
Carnation entered the room and was surprised when Azalea hugged him.
"What did I need? Well, I came to give you another stuffed thing," he said as he brought up a macaron stuffie. He was going to call it a stuffed animal, but it was a food so that wouldn't make sense.
It felt good to have Azalea be so close to him, so attached. For a creature to love someone so much was peculiar and unknown to him. He supposed he was feeling that a bit as well, which was why he wanted to cling to Azalea as much as he could. Carnation handed them the macaron plush and examined the room.
They'd audibly gasp, "You got me a stuffie?" Their eyes would light up, they loved it whenever Carnation got them anything. They were very excited, considering he was really good at getting them gifts, but they may also just be because they are easily occupied and love almost everything.
Their smile grew even more upon seeing the stuffie, "I love it! Thank you!" They felt so happy to be getting a gift. "I'll get you something soon!" They have a habit of buying people gifts when they buy them gifts, even if they weren't as good at giving gifts as other people. They sprawled out on their bed, making an excited noise, partially forgetting Carnation was still in the doorway, "Ah, sorry! I forgot you were there! I was just so excited!"
Carnation did know just what Azalea liked since they had studied them quite intently, although it was true that they enjoyed nearly everything that was soft and cute.
"You don't need to repay me," he said, smiling in a charming manner. "It's a gift, after all." A part of him still hoped they'd repay him . . . though not in some sort of physical gift. He found it cute seeing Azalea so excited over this little thing. Honestly, it was just some fabric.
He faked being earnest, though, and rubbed the back of his neck like he always did when pretending to be an anxious little college boy. His height and sharp eyes did no favors. "Well, it was the least I could do for everything you've done for me. I'm glad you like it." He strode over in two quick steps and sat on Azalea's bed as if he was doing nothing strange.
"No, I'm going to get you a gift as well, it's the nice thing to do since you got me one," they always tried to give people gifts in return whenever people gave them gifts. They didn't view it as fair for somebody to give a gift but not get anything in return. They realized they didn't know what Carnation would like, but quickly an idea popped to their head, "Would you like one of my stuffies, Corn?" They felt like that was a good offer, considering they really like their stuffies, so it'd show just how much they care about him. "Or if you think of a better gift I'll try to give you that," they weren't fully sure if he'd like having one of their stuffies, so they said that to give him more options than just one of their stuffies
"What? I don't remember doing too much for you, could you list something I did, please?" they realized right after saying that, that it sounded like they just wanted compliments, but they didn't, they couldn't remember doing too much for Carnation, but that wasn't saying much, considering how forgetful they are. "I remember you doing things for me, but not really me doing things for you, I guess it just slipped my mind unless you're lying to make me feel better, but you wouldn't do that," they'd say innocently, unaware Carnation lied much.
Carnation smiled warmly and said, "Well, only if you really want to." He wasn't the type to go in a back and forth argument that would ultimately go nowhere. Besides, it'd be nice to have a thing gifted from Azalea. That would make it easier versus having to steal so much. His habits were becoming more obvious and he needed to be sneakier. Orchid was noticing.
At their next comment, he gave a genuine beam, not one that was faked. "Yes!" he exclaimed, clapping his hands together. "Anything you'd give me would be a treasure." Oh, this was just perfect. It showed that Azalea was willing to give something important for his sake. Just splendid! Carnation's grin could be taken as menacing, but that was only due to him not being able to help himself.
He pretended to be awkward, touching the back of his neck and looking away. "Oh, well, you've been there for me. You always care and . . . er, yeah," he murmured, skipping through most of the words. A stranger might pity him, thinking how sad it was that this awkward scary man was having so much trouble talking to a such little creature. They wouldn't even know that on the inside he was so twisted, just as his exterior portrayed. Of course, that was only in this moment. In others they may agree that he was a terrifying monster. "You really do give your all around me. I try to do that, too, but . . . I don't know. I just come off as a jerk sometimes. So confident, but really I'm not. I get so anxious," he lied, feeling that Azalea might feel closer with this fake heart to heart.
"Alright! You can pick one out if you'd like, instead of it being a surprise," They couldn't care either way, they loved all of their stuffies, but they'd be in good hands with Carnation, but they'd be a bit sad to have to see one go. It'd be okay though, they knew they were doing something really good and Carnation would be happy to have it and that made them feel less sad about it.
They sat up because they felt like it made them seem less like they didn't care. "Well, I care because you're my friend, I wouldn't be a good friend if I didn't care about your feelings. I'd simply be a person who you know, not a friend," They weren't sure if that last bit helped, but they'd only see that person as somebody whose name they knew, somebody who would try to hurt them. They shook their head quickly, realizing they were about to fall into their thoughts, but they couldn't do that, Carnation was being serious currently.
"I don't think you're a jerk, I think you're a really cool person, just with a few tiny flaws, but they're easy to overlook because you're just really nice," they were being honest, although they felt their words weren't coming out well, they felt like it seemed like they were just talking, not trying to comfort somebody.
Azalea lied on Carnations shoulder and said, "You're still a good friend, either way."
"I don't mind either way. Anything from you is just dazzling," he said and smiled warmly.
He nodded. "Well, naturally, of course. But the fact that you're my friend in the first place when, well, I'm me. I'm not that interesting of a guy, to be honest," he said, still faking his humbleness. "Nice? Wow, I don't think that would be a good descriptor of me, but okay," he said, actually a bit surprised that Azalea would come to that conclusion. He didn't view himself as that. Niceness didn't get you anything in the world unless it could be used to gain something. Then again, wasn't that the reason people were nice at all?
When Azalea lay on his shoulder, his hand went to hide his cheeks as if they were red, although he wasn't embarrassed at all and was never able to blush as far as he could tell. "Thank you," he muttered and looked in the opposite direction of where Azalea was. "You are, too. You'd be a great partner." The last bit was a slow segue (yo i thought it was spelled segway but that's an entirely diff thing and it's like segue which is so stupid omg sorry i had to do this because it's annoying me) into what he wanted, which was to make Azalea interested in him.
"Hm, alright," they'd nod along while planning which stuffie they could give carnation, maybe not one of their favorites, but still one they liked, which was all of them.
"You are interesting, silly," they found it odd whenever people say that, unless they actually aren't interesting, but most people who say that are interesting and are just being modest. "I may be confusing words, but it still works, I believe you're nice," they didn't think they were confusing words, but it always was possible. "Maybe I was thinking of kind, but they're practically the same thing," they weren't sure why Carnation thought he wasn't nice, but they quite thought that he was nice, or at least was nice to them.
Azalea noticed Carnation moving to cover his face, but they didn't make note of it, considering it was just a small thing that likely meant nothing, it could just be him itching his face. They'd be confused by that comment, "Thank you, I think. You would too?" They weren't really sure how to respond to that, but it felt like a compliment, so they just took it that way.
They got a sudden burst of thoughts about Orchid and said, "I miss Orchi." They couldn't remember the last time he traveled, but they knew they'd have to put up with it a good bit more, considering he said he might have to travel more. They just hoped that Carnation wouldn't start traveling, not because they favored him more, but because they felt like sometimes they might be alone in the house if they both are traveling. Azalea honestly couldn't even remember why Orchid went out of town, but it was fine either way, all they remembered was that it was something important.
"Thank you," he said. "I try to be nice to you, especially you." Carnation smiled big, a bit menacing given his height.
"Yeah, I would," he said, stretching to his full height and looking down at Azalea. In the moment he wanted to kiss them, but he didn't want them to be afraid. That would mess things up. So instead he looked quite intently to where Azalea's eyes were hidden.
Their comment on Orchid sent a flash of annoyance, causing his eyebrow to twitch. "I do as well, but he'll be back before we know it. Let's just have some fun. We won't get personal time like this for a while," he said and he crouched down until he was only about a foot above Azalea. "Do you want to kiss me?" he asked and smirked. Honestly, Carnation couldn't contain himself anymore. Azalea could be so clueless, mentioning Orchid and not picking up his signals. It was cute, but he'd have to take some initiative. After all, he had gone through the trouble of making sure Orchid had to travel.
"Ooo, we could," they'd think for a moment, trying to find something they could do together, "We could . . . I'm not sure what we could do, but I'll come up with something." They were still trying to think of possible things, but they couldn't come up with anything.
"I- Wha- Like . . . platonic kisses?" They felt so confused and shocked by that, especially considering they hadn't really kissed anybody, other than a few people that were kind of their friends, but Azalea thought they were also just manipulating them, yet they weren't. They could feel their cheeks brightening just at him asking this simple question. Their legs felt kind of shaky, although they were confused as to why, it was just a simple thing that didn't even mean anything, just friends being close. They went to cover their face and stop their legs from shaking at the same time, but it just ended with them moving their hands towards their face then towards their legs, ending with them just putting them back on the bed.
"How would you feel if it were romantic?" he asked. "I always ask permission, you know. A guy like me would never hurt you." To him, that was the truth as he would never physically hurt Azalea. Emotionally, though, that was a whole different thing. Azalea was so confused and unsure. Their cheeks were red like roses, so adorable! Carnation leaned in closer, his eye contact off putting. "Yes, or no?" he asked softly, two of his hands now on the bed, on both sides of Azalea. Despite him being crouched the height difference was so obvious. Carnation felt excitement, his heart thrumming inside his chest. So much emotion, so much feeling. This was true love. Love for Azalea, his one and only. His.
"I would feel- Uhh," They were so confused by all of this, it felt like it was happening so quickly and they just couldn't fully process it all. They could feel their head spinning, all of this was just so confusing. They squirmed a bit, trying to get a bit more time to think. "Ah- Uhh- Yes?" They weren't really sure what they were saying, but they agreed anyway. They could feel their heart beating incredibly quickly, they were so confused by this, partially thinking that Carnation was just joking. They realized their breathing was kind of shakey and tried to make it sound normal to hide that they were anxious about this, although they failed at that. Their thoughts were racing, what if Carnation didn't mean it and it was just a weird test? That would be humiliating.
This was so funny, he almost laughed. When they said yes he grinned even more, then pecked them on the cheek. He then patted them on the head, their fluffy hair bouncing a little.
"You're so cute when you're flustered," he said. "You can kiss me for real one day, if you're that into me. I mean, you blush whenever I'm near you. It's so adorable to see you crush on me." Carnation laughed, loving every bit of this. Manipulating Azalea was just precious.
Azalea sighed a shaky sigh of relief, slightly glad that nothing really happened, and immediately went to cover their face. They immediately went to cover their face, it was so stupid of them to get so worked up over that. They started picking around their eyes, feeling so stupid for getting worked up over him asking to kiss them.
"WHat? No I don't," their voice cracked similar to how a teenage boy would and they paused for a second, "I'm . . . I'm not crushing on you!" They picked around their eyes faster, feeling stupid, but also embarrassed. They ever so slightly wished he had actually kissed them, maybe that would make the embarrassment less, although they doubted that. "I- I don't-" They couldn't manage to say anything but that. They felt so embarrassed and just so . . . wow. They wanted to scream.
"Don't worry about it, Azalea. It's not like I'm opposed to it or anything," he said, lightly grabbing their wrist and bringing it away from their eyes.
He put a finger to his lips, then, as if coming to a revelation, exclaimed, "Aha! Maybe you dom't even realize you're crushing on me, despite it being so obvious. I mean, you are clueless to even your own emotions." Carnation felt a plan building itself in his mind, formulating into something truly wicked. "Don't you feel your heart hammering whenever I'm near?" he asked, recalling all the times he'd flirted with Azalea simply to get a reaction.
"Well, I- I don't think I am," they were every so slightly convinced that maybe he was right and they did have a crush on him. They quickly realized their voice sounded shakey while saying all of this, although they knew there was nothing that could fix this. "Not . . . not whenever you're near," they paused, taking a deep breath to try to prevent their talking from being so shakey, although their attempts were futile. "It's mainly when you do things that embarrass me that my . . . that my hearts pounds," they felt so anxious saying that, like they were saying something they knew was wrong, even though they knew it was just something small and simple. "I . . . How could I tell if I really did have a crush on you?" they'd ask, their voice much more shakey than before, unsure whether or not they would want to actually find out if they had a crush on Carnation.
They wanted so badly to try to change the subject, then they realized the perfect thing to, "So, uh, do you know why Orchid is traveling? I . . . I forgot."
"Well, isn't that practically the same thing? Trust me, I have studied emotions. I think I know what you're feeling," he said, comfort now settling into his gaze. "You don't have to tell, but you can believe me."
At the next mention of Orchid, he rolled his eyes. "Maybe some family emergency? Who knows," he said and threw his hands up. "More importantly, I don't think you should shy away from your feelings," he said, placing one of his hands on Azalea's arm. "They're valid." Any person seeing this bit of conversation would find it heartwarming, not knowing any of the horrors from earlier. Carnation would feed on their fear, their discomfort. And if Azalea ever fell for him, he'd feed on their love, their submissiveness. All he needed was obedience.
"I . . . I don't know," They paused, not fully sure if Carnation was right, but he might be, "What if you're . . . you're wrong?" They had a pang of worry, what if Carnation was wrong? They didn't want to hurt Carnation if they didn't actually have a crush on him. "I know you're better at identifying emotions, but it'd be bad if it was wrong," they braced themself, feeling like Carnation might yell, even though they knew Carnation wouldn't yell at them.
"I'm sorry, I just . . . just wasn't sure and I'm just really embarrassed and just ahhhh," they really weren't helping themself nit be embarrassed and their hands instinctively went to cover their face as a method of hiding their embarrassment, their vulnerability.
Carnation raised his eyebrows, very surprised at Azalea. "Wrong? Azalea, I've never been wrong. I mean, you know I've never been wrong in my life." They sure were a doubter, but he felt a stab to his ego and wished they could just praise him without critique.
"Is it so bad if you like me or not? It's not like I care. You could date me if you wanted, I'm not opposed to it. I'm not the one pining," he said, looking away and inspecting his nails for a moment. They were long and sharp.
"Don't be so worried. A little crush isn't a big worry, is it?" he said and smiled. "Besides, an attractive guy like me is quite dependable and intelligent. I completely understand." He ran his hands through his curly hair as he said that, looking rather elegant in his pose.
"You were wrong once," they paused, unsure if they should continue, but they decided to, "When I made you guess if I was older than Orchi you said that I was." They liked looking back on that memory, it was funny to them, especially since that was the only time that they could remember when Carnation was wrong.
"No no! I'm not saying it's bad if I like you! I just don't think I do and you just brought it up so suddenly and I just was confused and embarrassed and I just," they felt mean for accidentally implying that it was bad that they might have a crush on him.
"I just- I don't know," they really weren't sure, they knew they were bad at identifying crushes and he might be right, he is very good at identifying emotions, so he might be right. They still couldn't be fully sure.
He pretended to be annoyed, mouth pressing in a thin line. "We do not speak of that period in time. Though I must say, that was really a gamble. How was I supposed to remember the year my little bro was born?" he asked in an overly incredulous tone.
He smiled, saying, "I don't care if you find it bad, I'm just saying the truth. I don't really care whether you like me or not, as I've stated, but it's so obvious in the way you act. Psychology, you know?" Instead of bending his head to look down at Azalea, Carnation just lowered his eyes, making him seem even taller than he was. "Why not try it out? College years are your dating years. A little bit of friends with benefits never hurt anyone, did it? I bet Orchid could join in too, but he'd chicken out," he said, just to make sure Azalea didn't catch on to his scheme.
"I remember both of the years you two were born in," they smiled, kind of finding it funny that they knew a bit more than Carnation in this region.
"I know, but I don't find it bad," they said, still defending themselves, even though Carnation said it was okay. "I know, but I don't think I have a crush on you," they knew saying that was futile and only added to their own confusion. They really weren't sure, but they realized the only thing partially indicating the fact that they were anxious by this was that their voice was still kind of shakey. "I know . . . you're good at telling people's emotions," they liked that at times, but in this case, it didn't help them, it just confused them. They weren't sure if he was right or not. "I'll . . . I'll think about it," they thought it could be fun, although they weren't sure, considering relationships made it easier to hurt somebody, but Carnation would never hurt them.
They tried to change the subject again, "I was shirtless a bit back and saw myself in the mirror, but the thing is, I wasn't dysphoric about it!" They really were excited about that, considering their chest used to be a big source of dysphoria.
"It would be a platonic kind of relationship. No strings attached. I have them all the time," he said, an image flashing of Claude. How annoying, he thought and his face showed irritation.
He grinned and said, "Good job. You look pretty androgynous, I'm glad your seeing it yourself." Personally, Carnation didn't have a particular preference, as long as they were hot. He'd regularly judge people's looks, though, but with Azalea it hardly mattered. They could be anything and he'd still love them. That was true love.
"Wait, are you saying you want to," they'd look around and quiet down, leaning in for a whisper, "have sex with me?" They were slightly confused, not really ever thinking those were Carnation's intentions, although they didn't really care, they were fine with it either way. They just felt a bit confused by that.
They'd giggle a bit, finding it funny that Carnation was saying a good job, like it was something they were actively working to, "Thank you, but dysphoria is stupid and I doubt that'll help for too long." They thought about something for a second, "Can I sleep in your bed tonight? Not in a sex way, just, I don't want nightmares." They felt silly for asking, although they were still hoping that Carnation would say yes.
He cocked his head. I mean, he did not expect Azalea to jump to that. Well, yeah, they were right, but he didn't think things would happen that fast. Carnation didn't know how they'd react, though, so remained calm, not allowing his hunger to overtake him. "Nah, maybe just making out. Unless you want to," he said, eyeing Azalea mysteriously.
"Yes," Carnation said, almost before Azalea had finished their sentence. "Anything to help you with your nightmares. I hope I don't keep you up, though. Not that I snore," he said and winked.
"Oh, I . . . I don't know, I'll think about it and get back to you on it," they weren't sure, it was fun to kiss people, but what if Orchi found out and god mad at them? That wouldn't be good at all, that would be bad. They just weren't sure.
"Thank you Corn~," they hugged him as a way to show appreciation, but they bit him, just a bit because they thought it'd be funny to bite somebody whose bite is much more dangerous than their own. They wanted to see if they'd get any reaction, although they really doubted it would really happen. "I doubt you'll keep me up, I'm a kind of heavy sleeper," they paused for a second, "well, not heavy, medium sleeper." They giggled a bit, the concept of there being a medium sleeper fascinated them.
"Of course Orchid couuuuld do it, but he would be terrified. I'd let him know just to be safe, in case he wants to," Carnation said and grinned. He was grinning because he wanted to make Orchid nervous, to show he had Azalea right where he wanted them.
On instinct, he bit Azalea back. It was merely primal instinct and it likely wouldn't hurt too much, but the venom most certainly would. And it would kill if left untreated. Black liquid dribbled down his chin, his fangs now much more prominent. Feeling Azalea's blood in his mouth, Carnation appeared a bit delirious for a moment, hunger overtaking him.
"Whoops, looks like I've got to get the venom out," he murmured and (this next bit isn't like exactly sexual, but idk it's got the vibes) (view spoiler) Blood dripped down his chin and he calmly licked it off until it was a crimson smear.
"That was hot," he breathed out, still high on Azalea's blood.
"Hm, alright, I'll still be thinking about it though," they felt more comforted that Orchi would be aware, but they still weren't sure. They felt like it would be okay, but they weren't sure.
"Ow, fuck" they were kind of shocked that it didn't just feel like a gentle bite, it felt more like being given two shots concurrently. They giggle after a moment, "What's the black stuff that just fell onto my floor?" They quickly realized it was venom and panic started to set in. They were worried, even though Carnation seemed to have it under control, although when he pinned them against the bed they felt so good. It was fun to be doing this, even with the risk of venom severely hurting them. They were glad when he pulled away, not because they disliked it, but because they realized it meant they were safe, he wouldn't just leave venom to hurt them. They wrapped their legs around Carnation, trying not to let go of this sense of safety.
Their cheeks were incredibly flushed and they replied, "It was really . . . nice . . . really really nice." Their breathing was incredibly heavy like they just ran a race, not just something simple. They really liked that sense of fear, it was odd. "How was my blood? I remember you wanting to try it," they said, kind of woozy from the initial shock of it. They said, really really quietly, almost to the point of it not being audible, "I think I want to try platonic kisses." They thought Orchid would be okay with that and was the only reason they allowed themself to even ask for it.
His fangs were long now, and he felt them with his tongue. Their sharpness, the warmth of the remaining metallic taste.
"So, are you only open to mouth contact when it's me sucking your blood?" he asked and chuckled, still on top of Azalea. He liked being in this position, being in control. Their expression was just what he wanted to see.
He lowered his face to be closer to Azalea's, whispering, "I liked how your blood tasted." Right now, looking at them, he could see and feel their blood pumping just underneath that thin layer of skin. His nails were so sharp, he could just slice . . .
No. He wouldn't harm them. They were far too cute for that. Carnation loosened his grip on them, smiling warmly. "Alright, just don't get too addicted to it. All my past affairs have given me standing ovations," he said in the tone he used for those people, flirtatious and cocky. In a way, that was a part of him. The closest part he'd ever reveal was that. But Carnation wasn't sure he really had a personality underneath all of it. There was a hollow husk, filled with layers upon layers of meaningless noise. A dull ache resounded somewhere inside him, but he ignored it and continued his act.
"I- You had to or I would've gotten hurt, I just liked the feeling," their voice ended up trailing off at the end, they felt incredibly embarrassed because of how good that felt, they liked it, although they felt as though any more could be unhealthy. They felt so small and quiet being in this position, it was nice, although they would be fine when it ended. They felt really cute just being here under Carnation.
They quietly said, "I'm glad you liked it." They felt bad for Orchid again, it felt as though he was missing out on so much, but they would update him on everything, no matter what it was. They focused on the thoughts of how amazing everything that just happened was.
"The same goes for you," they said in a joking tone, thinking that neither of them is really likely to get addicted to each other. They let their legs fall down from Carnation. They felt kind of sleepy like they could fall asleep in his arms. They felt safe being pinned down by him, yet they felt scared. They felt like there was a slight edge to being alone around Carnation, but they didn't realize it was caused by being alone with him. They thought it was just them causing it, they just were making this uncomfortable feeling. This uncomfortable feeling barely ever surfaced, they almost always felt incredibly comfortable around Carnation or Orchid.
They'd yawn, just realizing because of how comfortable they feel that they're actually quite tired. "Corn, can we nap together?" They'd ask, not really expecting a yes, but they would be fine with it either way. They'd come up with a backup plan, "If not could we . . . at least cuddle?" They just didn't want to be alone right now, they wanted him to stay and protect them.
It was all a gamble, yet Azalea was so trusting it actually worked. Something inside him wanted to laugh, to laugh until tears were in his eyes. How could the love of his life be so gullible? So vulnerable and weak. It was truly adorable to have someone like that to be able to use, to break. Oh, it'd be great to break them.
To be honest, he was still nervous that if he went any further it would result in Azalea being uncomfortable. While Carnation felt curious as to what that would look like, he clamped down that dark urge and smiled kindly, eyes sparkling.
"Of course," he said and unpinned them. "Whatever you wish, m'person." He got on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. This was farther than he'd ever gone and the thrill made his limbs tired. A nap would be good.
"Thank you!" they were glad he said yes to the nap, they were a teensy bit sleepy. While going to lie down they suddenly realized, "Wait, Corn, you still need to pick out a stuffie for me to give you!" They were glad they caught that before either of them fell asleep, considering Azalea would likely forget that bit and think he got one already.
They realized they were a bit hungry, but they weren't sure if they really wanted to get up and make something simple. They wanted to get up but it seemed like so much work. They eventually managed to force themselves to get up. "I'm going to make food, do you want anything?" they'd ask, not wanting to have to waste energy if he asked for something after they got back.
"Hm, I dunno. You pick," he said, fighting the urge to take what he knew was Azalea's favorite stuffed animal. The thing that was most precious to them.
Carnation only smiled up at Azalea, pretending to think. "Whatever you're having, I suppose. Though I don't want you to have to make anything extra if it's too hard, seeing as I'm not very hungry." He was being agreeable so as to win Azalea's heart on multiple fronts, both as the devilish boy and kind friend.
They paused for a moment, "What if I pick out one when you would actually prefer a different one though? I think you should pick." They usually worried about small little choices like this, just because they always thought they would choose incorrectly, even if you can't be incorrect at all. They hoped Carnation would understand this and he'd pick one out, but they weren't sure if he would.
"Well, I'm not sure what I'm going to have, likely something simple, but what would you like, if anything, if not I'll just look through the stuff we have and make something to share," they weren't sure what was easily accesible, but they'd figure something out once they got out. Maybe chips or something similar to that would be something good to share, especially because it'd be quite easy to just pour them into a bowl. "If we have chips, would be okay having them?" they'd ask, not wanting to pick out something he wouldn't like.
"I like them all, Azalea. I'd tell you the truth as I always do," he said, the lie slipping like a knife through water. Carnation's eyes trailed over each of the stuffed creatures, knowing he had preferences, but those happened to be just the same as Azalea's. He'd settle with whatever he could get, cherishing it as a gift from them.
"It'd likely be easier if we had something to share," Carnation thought out loud, unsure what exactly was in the kitchen, but knew that Azalea didn't want to inconvenience him and remained where he was. He shrugged. "Sure, I really don't mind. I could eat anything, even you," he said and that devilish glint ignited again, dancing just beneath the surface. Dousing the spark, he added, "But you're far too cute to eat~"
They nodded along, they felt a bit reassured, although they still weren't sure, they knew they couldn't choose wrong, but what if there's one that Carnation would like better than the others? "I understand you like them all, but could you pick anyway?" they really hoped that he would get the hint and just pick one out, even if he doesn't have a preference.
"Yeah, you're right," they realized it would be a lot easier, they would have one less dish to clean too. Their face slightly flushed at his comment, as a way of trying to hide the fact that they were blushing they jokingly said, "I'm not that cute, I'm pretty cute, but not to the point of preventing anybody but you from eating me."
They began to walk out, but once they were in the doorframe they said, "Alright, I'll get something for us now!" Only once they got out did they realize how tired they were, but they had to get the food first. They checked the pantry, there were chips, but they were tortilla chips. They went to get a bowl, but they knocked over a cup while trying to get a bowl down. A stray bit of glass hit their cheek, causing it to bleed. After pulling out the glass they pushed their hand onto their cheek, trying to mask their pain, even though they were quite hurt.
He sighed, picking up the stuffie Azalea cuddled with the least. "This one," he said with an optimistic smile. He wished they could be a better chooser, but he was able to make decisions in a flash. It was really for the other person's benefit that he wavered.
"Don't be so humble," Carnation said with a wave of his hand. "I could list everything perfect about you." Indeed, he had made a mental list many times.
When Azalea left he stood idly for a moment, then eventually out of boredom went out. He saw them with their hand on their cheek, a pained expression on their face. Carnation walked over, brows furrowed. "Azalea," he said in a worried tone, genuine for once.
They giggled a bit, they always found compliments like these to be funny, there wasn't really a reason, they kind of just did.
"Yes?" they responded, turning to face Carnation, still trying their best to not show any pain, but they weren't aware how unsuccessful they were. They applied more pressure to it, just trying to make it hurt a bit less. They winced, them putting pressure on it was just making it hurt more, they released a bit of pressure, although that resulted in some of their blood dripping onto the floor. "could you pass me that rag?" they asked while pointing to a rag that was near Carnation.
He saw through Azalea's lie and fixed them with a hard but caring expression. Carnation passed the rag over, saying, "You have to be more careful, Azalea. If you were to hurt yourself so terribly again . . I'd . . " His voice sounded so concerned, yet he was referring to his own sickening urges. All Carnation wanted was to lick the blood clean for the taste. The hunger that awoke inside him was wild, so pre-alliance that it nearly overcame him.
Carnation wandered to get the health kit, opening it up and rummaging through it.
They put the rag to their cheek, just trying to prevent any blood from getting on their floor. "I'll be more careful, I don't want to you have to worry about me," they felt bad for seemingly causing Carnation to worry, unaware he was referring to himself. They weren't sure what to do after he left, but they decided it'd be best to just continue preparing the chips, so that's what they did. They honestly had no clue what was in the health kit, but that didn't matter to them, all that they could think about was helping their wound, then they could go back to being with carnation.
He brought back some alcohol, a cotton ball, and a bandage.
"The alcohol isn't for a fun party," he said with a small laugh. He twisted off the cap, then casually laid one of his many hands on Azalea's shoulder. "Hold still," he said distractedly as he poured a bit of alcohol on the cotton ball. Carnation then cleaned the wound, not minding whether or not they winced. Worrying about someone's feelings in a case like this could make all the difference.
Finally, he put the bandage on. "Try to ask me for help if you can't reach something, or . . I'm not quite sure what you were doing. Just rely on me," he murmured, still focused on making sure there weren't any splotches of blood left on their face. A droplet had gotten on their lips. He eyed it, then used his thumb to rub it off, ruby red smearing his fingertip.
The corners of their mouth slightly perked up a bit at Carnation's comment, although that was all that really happened, they felt ashamed for breaking something and that was overtaking most of their thoughts.
They tried their best to hold still, although they slightly flinched away when he put the cotton ball on their wound. They knew they'd have to handle the pain, it wouldn't be good to only clean a bit of the wound then just stop because it stung, it was meant to sting and that'd just be stupid.
They thought to recap what was going on, so they began to explain, "Well, I was going to get a bowl, and for some reason, there was a cup next to it, but I didn't realize and I knocked the cup over." They felt stupid, it was such a dumb mistake that could've been easily prevented if they were just paying attention. They quickly muttered, "Thank you for cleaning my wound."
"You aren't dumb," he said, which was true. Carnation loathed stupid people. As interesting as it was to control them, they hardly knew anything at all. "You're welcome," he let out, leaning against the wall. "What were we doing again?" Carnation asked, not quite sure what was happening previously. All he could recall was the blood and Azalea's thrumming pulse.
