Ok . I think it's time for those of us that have finished to have an actual discussion about this book.
Here are some questions to maybe get some conversations going.

What are your thoughts about the book?

What did you rate the book? Why?

Were you able to tell who the guilty one(s) were right away? Why or why not.

Have you read any other books from this author? If yes, how does this one compare?

What did you think about seeing the different characters' point of view, as the story progressed?

What are your thoughts about the ending of this book?

I'm just not sure about this one. It had such great ratings and high reviews. But for me, it fell kind of flat of the hype. There were some more interesting parts that moved the story along, but I feel that the story, overall, was a bit disjointed.

I ended up giving it 3 stars. And that's probably the best I could do for it. I liked it enough for that but probably not enough to recommend it.
Maybe I have read too many mysteries and/or thrillers, but from the very beginning, it wasn't too difficult to piece out that Noelle was going to do something to Ellie. I found their interaction to be predictable, in that way. I still wonder if it was part of the author's purpose. Maybe she was looking for a way to let us all see inside the plan, as we watched it unfold. I'm not sure if it was as successful for me, as it could have been.

I have never read anything before from this author. I think she has a simple writing style that allows you to read her book quickly. I did enjoy that it was a quick read. However, I did miss some of the more complex thoughts and hang-on-the-edge-of-your-seat twists and turns that I've experienced with other writers of this genre. Based on this book alone, I am not sure that I will be looking to jump into another book by this author.

I found the character POVs, a strange thing. On one hand I liked knowing their thoughts, but I don't think the author used this idea fully. We could have really delved into selfish thoughts or even manic thoughts. I think it may have given the characters more dimension.

The ending of this book was odd. The suicide had me scratching my head. Yes, he killed Noelle...and yes Poppy wasn't his...but Poppy still loved him. That poor kid. I guess the point was guilt? Remorse? But I don't think his character ever felt that. So that seemed a bit of a stretch for me. The letter in the book, however, was a nice touch. Some kind of closure.

I didn't hate this book, but I didn't love it either.

I would love to hear what everyone else thinks.

Nick As i posted in the other thread but with spoilers :P

I liked the majority of the book. But some things were just odd how they happened like how did no one / the police department not think oh lets check Noelle she lives right there.... I figured out some things early on about poppy but it wasn’t what I originally thought, which I was actually happy about because i thought the floyd was in on it with Noelle and did unspeakable things to ellie... and im glad thats not the case... also .... maybe i missed something but how did she get pregnant ?! like what lol . I was also dissatisfied with the ending it was a little much of an over reaction i think to just have him shoot him self. it didnt feel very much like something that character would do... . I think it could have been written another way lol.

Also I don’t think the writer had very much confidence tbh because the ending she stated it was a hot mess. Which I still think it was 🤣.

I Gave this book 3 stars since it did have me hooked for a good while .

Nick, she got pregnant by sperm purchased on the internet. Apparently from a PhD candidate. Which was strange. I'm not naive, but is that possible?? I wasn't stated exactly how Noelle did that to Ellie, but it did say that she was knocked out by drugs first and that Noelle was keeping track of Ellie's cycles/ovulation..

Mirna | 17 comments Yeah, it is a 3 star fot me also. The writing style is simple and the book is a quick read. For a while I really liked it, but then it bacame a little hard to believe and that annoyed me slightly. I hated Noelle’s point of view, and found that to be the most annoying part. I wish that the author picked another way to tell the story. I also felt that the characters could have been better developed, as I found myself disliking them all, including Poppy.

Jenna (bookendbeans) | 13 comments I was bored. I gave it 2 stars because I’m not someone that enjoys figuring out the plot of a thriller so quickly in the book-I very rarely figure out the WHOLE thing so quickly. Usually I’ll figure out a small detail, but not the whole plot. Like Amy said it almost felt like it was intentionally easy to figure out, but I feel like there should have been some real shocker still. And I don’t think the end, with him commuting suicide was the shocker. It wasn’t a great ending, and didn’t feel like it was really necessary or fitting for his character (sorry I can’t remember his name, Floyd?) development.

It lacked. A lot. I was so bored and read it in 2 days to just get it over with and to confirm my theory was right.

I haven’t read this author before but I have heard her name with other books. Idk if I’d give her another try, unless someone really gives me a compelling reason to try another.

Kind of a bummer, but not every book is a winner for me. With that everyone is different and I’m glad some people did enjoy it! Because that’s what reading is all about!

Natalia Frydrych | 5 comments I didn't like it, and I gave it 2 stars too. There were moments where t was an okay read, but most of the time I was annoyed and/or bored. There was really no surprise at this at all, I figured it out very early on, which happened rarely for me. I didn't feel any need or at least wish to read this, and I was glad when finish it that it was over.

I would not recommend this book, it was very bland, and I probably forget about it completely very soon.
