I will start!

I am reading this book: Charnel House - Demons and a haunted house - definite insomnia fuel! :)

I am also reading this one: Snow Shark - a shark that loves the snow (lol) and loves human blood too.

message 3: by Felina (new)

Felina | 648 comments I'm currently reading The Blade Itself which is very good but a slow go since I'm actually reading it and not listening to it. I did put a hold on it an audio but it's out a few weeks.

I need to finish The Girl Who Saved Christmas that I stared to read with my son at christmas time but he lost interest. It's good enough to finish but not finish quickly apparently since it's April.

I'm also slowly reading A Tale of Two Cities as I avoided classics most of my life and want to get at least a little culture in...maybe.

And lastly The Case for Trump. I also decided I wanted to go back through our Presidents here in America and read one right leaning book and one left leaning book of each of them. I do like to read history quite a bit and when it touches on politics it's good to balance the biases.

I am not a monogamous reader! Though I'm hoping to have these all wrapped up within the next month or so so I'm fresh for The Fisherman buddy read.

I picked up another book to read so now I am reading 3! lol

Scar: A Deep Sea Thriller - a shark story - it is really good so far. I have read this author before and really like his writing style. He usually writes deep sea creatures gone wild and other creature feature stories.

Emilie | 49 comments I'm finishing up Exhalation, which is a bunch of sci-fi short stories. Most of them are making me think, which I love about sci-fi.

I also just started Different Seasons- a group of novellas.

That is an excellent read by Stephen King

Yes, that's the one.

message 11: by Annerlee (new)

Annerlee | 82 comments I’m currently reading Harbour by John Ajvide Lindqvist. At about a quarter of the way through there are strong hints of malignant and creepy things happening just out of sight. And the locals know more than they’re admitting.

Tantalising…

message 12: by Felina (new)

Felina | 648 comments Adding that right now.

I need to read his books. I have a couple I think on my kindle tbr. I haven't heard of this one though. How creepy is it? Scary creepy? Like under your skin shivers creepy?

message 15: by Felina (new)

Felina | 648 comments I started She Who Became the Sun on audio and I'm not feeling it. I have it in dead tree as well so I think I'll switch over and see if that works better for me. I've heard this book is really good so I'm giving it a second chance. :)

I thought the Blade Itself had some slower pacing points as well, but it was well worth getting to Before They Are Hanged because all the character setup in the first book allowed for some great scenes and development in the second. Although, I did listen to it on audiobook and that probably helped because the narrator did a fantastic job.

message 19: by Felina (new)

Felina | 648 comments Yay! I started The Blade Itself on dead tree but have the audio requested. I’m glad to hear it’s good.

I am still reading this one: SCAR: A Deep Sea Thriller which has escalated with more attacks and more bodies!

I have started two new ones which have become insomnia fueled:

Klondike Slaughter

and

The Adirondack Witch

It’s a slow burn so far, but atmospheric and well written. There’s a definite build of tension now though - one of those books that slowly get under your skin and so gradually that you hardly notice until it sucks you in.

At half way through there have been the first real horror scenes and freaky goings on. Lindqvist is slowly upping the stakes now.

I’m really enjoying it.

@Erin sending you a virtual box of Kleenex. I haven't read it but if it's about a dog there will be emotions I'm sure

@Annerlee Glad you're enjoying it, slow burns are so great sometimes.

Kevin | 217 comments Malice by John Gwynne

Love this book! In my home genre.

Ghost Story by Peter Straub

I'm venturing more into horror.

message 25: by Felina (new)

Felina | 648 comments I’m going to start Hot Six today for a pallet cleanser after Between Two Fires which was kinda heavy. Those Stephanie Plum audios are only like 6 hours long and I listen at double speed so I get through them fast.

Dan Corey | 170 comments I’m really enjoying Watchers by Dean Koontz. The premise is super cool, the horror elements are top-notch, and I really like all the characters. This may even knock Phantoms out of my number one spot.

I've seen the movie so I know how it's going to play out. There is already a lot of emotion in it!

I’ve only read one book by Koontz, The Taking, and I love that book. I’ve reread it several times. I’ll have to check out Watchers.

The Taking is my favorite Koontz book. The opening third is nail-bitingly suspenseful and I could not put it down.

The movie is great too! If you can track it down somewhere. It came out in 1988. It has been years since I have seen it though - at least 20 years - but I remember it was a great movie and really followed the book close. :)

Ian (RebelGeek) Seal (rebel-geek) | 409 comments I'm a fan of Koontz.
I loved the Moonlight Bay books,
Odd Thomas series,
Frankenstein series (btw, I think those 3 are in a low-key shared universe).
Lightning was my 1st & maybe still my favorite novel by him.

It’s just so creepy! The rain and how the animals behave. The way they could feel ‘it’ above. Perfect!
