What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

Looking for the name of a book that my mom read to me in the late 70’s or early 80’s. It was a random book that she was reading about a girl that woke up in a hospital room from a car crash. Or so she thought. It was actually a building set up like a hospital by her bf. he was wealthy and obsessed with her. She had some short term memory loss.

following I remember reading this book too. also searching for the title.

I believe she escaped by using utensils from meals brought to her. and I think she coped by talking to a god like voice in her head. was saved my hiding in a ditch than flagging down a passing by car.

I also think it may have been based on a true story?
