thanks for the invite!! I have seen the movie but never read the book. it's always fascinating to me to compare the storytelling between the book and what made it into the movie, lost in translation as it were. looking forward to the group readalong and commentary!
Hi everyone! I'm Kate. thanks walle for the invite. I haven't touched this book in years. I've been meaning to re-read it but I hated it the first time through. I think it will hit different now that I'm older.
Oh, hello, and thank you for the invitation. I haven't read the book or seen the movie yet, but I'm gonna find out about the book:))
Hii! I’m Chloe. Watched the movie years ago but never got round to reading. Can’t wait to start it! 👋🏼✨
Hi Thank you for the invitation, I've owned the movie and have had the book on my TBR for years, and honestly just forgot about it. Finally, I'll have the push to sit down and read it.
Thanks for the invite Lisa!! I have never read this or seen the movie so I'm looking forward to this.
It is a wonderful book - I read it a long time ago. I am almost 80 years old - retired research professor - live in a 55+ community in Florida - gates to keep us in or to keep you out. Who knows? My goal was to live & work long enough to retire - then read, read, read. Always too busy at work to read much - now I am catching up. I am not a repub or a fan of my governor or my neighbor (D. Trump). I prefer more liberal, peaceful attitudes and the truth. peace, janz
Hello! I stumbled across this read along but glad for the opportunity because when I saw the movie, I found the story so compelling and heartbreaking. This seems like a good group to read with and I’m always excited to grow my “Read” list instead of just my TBR. LOL!
Thank you so much for the invite! My name is Shaelyn, I go by that or Shae. this is the first time on here that an invite has been sent like this- I'm here for it! I've been wanting to read this for a LONG time. I will be listening to the audiobook. I almost always stick with the mystery genre and like the gothic subgenre, so I think this will be in my wheelhouse.plus I just enjoy the idea of being able to chat with people about a book (as my friends all read super 'cozy' mysteries & books like 50 shades or other stuff that I've tried to read but just can't) . I'm looking forward to this-thanks again
Dear Shae, you are just maturing with your reading. Most of us did the cozy mysteries and love stuff; then one day we realize that there is more to reading. Maybe we can learn something from another type of book. For example, I read one true romance per year - just to demonstrate to myself that I could do this too. I call them "bodice busters," and I read a Stephen King once every ten years - just to remind myself about true horror. Welcome to this group. Lisa is a master at directing the group - trying to keep us from telling secrets or foreshadowing events in the book. I read this book a long time ago and I am looking forward to what I missed last time and finding more wisdom in the book. Welcome. peace, janz
Are there two readalongs in July? I noticed another one for Persuasion, and was wondering if there is one for that one too. Thanks.
I read this in the past, but I'm really excited to read it again and have others along for the journey!!
Janz, what a nice welcome.. look forward to finding wisdom as well as finding it through other's found wisdom :-)
Hi! Thanks for the invitation. I've had this book on my TBR list for sometime and this is the motivation I've needed to get to it.
Hi!I watched the movie when it came out but never read the book yet.
Ill try to get the book from my library. :)
Hi there - I joined the Lord of the Flies read along and enjoyed it. I might go ahead a bit but I won’t do spoilers. Thanks!
Hi everyone I’m Colleen. I just downloaded the book and I’m super excited to read it. I saw the movie so long ago but have never read the book. Thank You Lisa for the add! I’m excited to discuss with you all!
Hi! Thank you for including me! I read this book years ago and remember enjoying it. But I remember very few details. Looking forward to the read along with all of you
thanks for the invite Lisa, this has been on my TBR forever! My copy just came in via Overdrive too!
Hi I'm Jakub, so far haven't read the novel nor watched the movie. was on my tbr for quite a while, looking forward for the discussion
Hello! I have the book on hold with the library. So far it hasn’t become available. I will follow the discussions and read it later! Happy reading 📚📖
Taury, have you tried the Libby App? It may be available on the app before you can get the actual book in hand?
I originally read The Lovely Bones in 2014. It is time to reread and discuss. I subscribe to SuperSummary which has a Study Guide for this book. I will occassionally share the gems from this website.
Is there a link to the August read?
Hi, missed this but have seen the movie many times and like it. Can you let me know when you're doing the readalong again or can I still post in here about it if I get a copy now?
Katherine -- the group reads have stopped for awhile on this site. I think (but my memory is always doubtful) that the moderator is just taking a break and will start up again next year. There is a read-along for books by Dickens - we are about one third of the way through Great Expectations now. The group is called the Old Curiosity Shop - if you want to join. Read a section ( we do have a schedule) and discuss it, read another section, discuss, etc. The moderators are excellent quite expert and give us a lot of information. If you are interested, go to the top of the page for community, then check The Old Curiosity Shop (or Shoppe?) -- get info there. peace, janz
Hi all! I am late to the party but happy to be here reading one of my most loved books of all time. I have read this one over and over again. My mom and grandma suggested this book to me when I was in my late teens, and it's forever been one of my absolute favorites since. When the movie came out, I had already visualized everything in my mind, so I didn't love it as much as I loved the book, but it was well-depicted. I am excited to pick up my battered, annotated copy and dive back in to a book I have cherished for years! Thank you so much for including me!!
Hello everyone. I’m excited to read this book. I’m intrigued with how the author will develop the complicated plot that inspired such a good movie. Happy to be joining the read along.

I'm Lisa of Troy and will be hosting this readalong. This is my first time going through The Lovely Bones. However, I have heard more about this book than all of the other books on my reading list for the year combined!
There will be another thread called, "Readalong Discussion (no spoilers/spoilers keeping pace with readalong)." That will be where you can log in and view/post discussion for the book.
