Play Book Tag discussion

I have now read all books in this series, and this one is definitely my favourite. This book is set in the 1600s, and tells the story of how the Owens family curse began. We see the story of Maria Owens, abandoned as a baby in England and raised by Hannah Owens, a witch, love and fate lead her to leave her family and friends to travel to Boston, where she is abandoned by a man who claimed to love her. Not knowing that he has chosen to abandon her, Maria follows him to Salem, Massachusetts, where her life becomes entangled with the witch trials. Of the four books in this series, I felt this one was the most believable, with it being partially based on true historical events. I liked the characters and was interested in the story. I also liked how much detail Hoffman gave us about the witch trials, although it never felt that we were being given information just to show us the amount of research that had gone into this book.
