JasonReads | 54 comments I was going to try and fit at least one more book in this month, but after reading nine books this month, *in sterotypical Italian accent* my brain, she no worky no more.

1. The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman
2. Prince of Fools by Mark Lawrence
3. The Polish Officer by Alan Furst (Audiobook) (Library/Libby app)
4. Kris Longknife: Training Daze by Mike Shepherd (eBook)
5. I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer by Michelle McNamara (Audiobook) (Library/Libby)
6. Burglars Can't Be Choosers by Lawrence Block
7. Kris Longknife: Resolute by Mike Shepherd
8. Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann (Audiobook) (Library/Libby)
9. Cults Uncovered: True Stories of Mind Control and Murder by Emily G. Thompson (Library)

My favorite reads this month were I'll Be Gone in the Dark and Killers of the Flower Moon. Both were excellent and I highly recommend them.

As you can probably tell, I'm a fan of the Kris Longknife series. What's not to like about a main character who is a naval officer, the daughter of a prime minister of an entire planet, and a princess of an interstellar empire?

I like military science fiction that has a woman as the hero because genres like that (and action thrillers) tend to be sausage fests, so it's nice to see women kicking butt for a change.

Also, the Libby app is the best thing I never spent money on. It's the only reason why I even started to listen to audiobooks, though I wish my library's catalogue of such was deeper and people WOULD STOP CHECKING OUT THE ONES I REALLY WANT TO LISTEN TO. :P

In other news, I'm now only three books away from hitting my GR reading challenge. My plan for once I do next month is to focus on reading several chonkers that I've been holding off on because I can't knock out an 800+ page book in a few days. I also want to focus more attention on reading non-fiction rather than listening to it like I have been. I have so many sitting around, so I ought to get around to them sooner rather than later.

Lorraine | 20 comments I feel the same about Libby, they never seem to have the lesser known authors.

I loved the Thursday Murder Club (and I think it was a group read on here.) Killer's of the Flower Moon I read with a library bookclub. Sad and gripping- a history I had never know about.

Ann (annrumsey) | 17068 comments Jason: nice month! Lol on your library frustration that people keep checking out the titles you want. It sure seems that way doesn't it..
As Carol mentioned, your two favorites were compelling and tragic and very well written. I still have vivid recall of both books. Your comments about the need to focus on non-fiction and the bigger door stopper books is valid. I often enjoy those more in print over audio.
