The Caraval Trilogy helped me to write more descriptively and add to my imagery- recommend for fantasy readers looking for a twisty game, with a circus-esque aura too!

oooh yes Caraval helped me a lot too. But also These Violent Delights with several things, one being how there were multiple languages within the book which I’ve always wanted to do but felt like it would be too much.
It is a children's book but House with Chicken Legs, really helped me form ideas and the Great Library series helped me in worldbuilding

Margaret Rogerson's Vespertine made me think about what kind of main character I wanted because she had a very relatable strong female mc.
It's actually some TV shows that have helped me with writing. Leverage and Burn Notice have taught me how to make sure to drop hints at things that show how certain could happen, even if the audience didn't catch it the first time.
@Kymela I love leverage! have you seen the new show? (also totally agree it’s so well written for something so episodic)
Reading on Wheels wrote: "@Kymela Same. I'm sad that the Nate actor was creepy tho"I never heard anything about that, but I also don't pay much attention to behind the scenes stuff. D:
@Kymela i only know cuz i looked it up as to why he wasn’t there@Sephora carstairs slay bestie if it works it works
Dracula helped with characterization, Alice in Wonderland helped with world-building, Agatha Christie helped to me to learn how to increase suspense, as well as make mystery/crime stories more unexpected, Shirley Jackson helped me to understand how to write more disturbing short stories, and a whole load of textbooks I've read for college classes...so...a lot lol :)
