books are up!I've only ordered one box so far!
i got:
and I'll post my 2nd box after my book club picks!
I have the ones I would have wanted but lovedddd white horse and the cloisters. last party wasn't for me but I see a lot of people liking it.
Cloisters is a definite for me, one of my all time favorite museums so I can't pass that one up. having a hard time deciding between White Horse or Last Party

I was ready for my challenge prize this month but I got into a reading slump while I was unpacking and my new apartment. Felt like I should be unpacking all day so I was only reading a little if at all for the few middle weeks in October. I'll finish the challenge this month thou so I'll add it to December. I'm excited to see who got BOTY, that's announced soon too I think. This month is another where so many books look so good. I'm adding most of them to my tbr but I'm trying to keep my buying this month down so I can maybe justify signing up for the other book sub service lol. My tbr has shrank drastically this year and I tend to reevaluate at the end of the year as to my book purchasing speed. I'm not sure why I'm even bothering, cuz I don't tend to stick to it even when I say I'm going to slow down. I think I have a book buying problem.
I really want to get Someday, Maybe but from the reviews it sounds like it's so sad. Where I am in my life right now I just can't read a book that is that sad, unfortunately I really need more fast-paced and if not uplifting at least like a mystery or a thriller or something kind of book. Someday, Maybe sounds so good though. I'm honestly debating getting it and just holding on to it for however long it takes me to be able to read a side book again. Some of my TBR are from like 2017 I think is probably my oldest so it's not unheard of in my house lol
Yes! Book buying and book reading are definitely two different hobbies!! And Yes, Someday, Maybe is going to tear my heart out! I'll keep you posted when I read it!
and I don't blame you for slowing down reading! moving and unpacking is physically and emotionally taxing! But yay on completing yours and getting it in December. What did you pick??
I'm excited about BOTY too but I'm still surprised by what was picking. Interesting to see the overall winner
Moving is terrible! We lived in our old place for 6 years so I got spoiled lol and this one is kinda temporary, not planning to stay more than a year so it's stressful to think that I'll have to do this again in a year but yeayes, I will keep an eye out for your review, it sounds like a book I would love, at a different time in my life of course LOL
I just went back and reread the post and I realized that I didn't say that I got my regular challenge prize already a couple of months ago, I picked the blue socks cuz I already have the other socks lol. Next month I should get the reading Slayer prize or whatever it's called, I think it's that sword bookmark. so I'm looking forward to that
BOTY is always surprising to me. it's never the books I think it's going to be, maybe one or two, but there are always a couple that really surprise me. I really like that, it makes me read different types of books and kind of opens up my reading horizons I think.
Hay guysI also ordered from Aardvark! got three from them for October and will see if I like any for November (who am I kidding, I'll end up getting some). Hehe
I've been checking out Aardvark's November choices all day, and I'm surprisingly not loving them. There's one I think that I definitely would read, so I definitely could find something, but last month I wanted a lot of them so I'm very surprised that there is only one this month that really caught my attention. That's nothing against it though, BOTM has an off month for me occasionally too.

This is how I summaries them
we have one about alien planet (mars)
we have one back in the old western days
have on about a hotel/motel and some killings
WE have a business owner falling (maybe) for another business owner
and we have one where two strangers are not really strangers?
LOL

I have a lot of items that I have acquired, but I hate to throw out/get rid off.
Sometimes I wish I would have moved (several time) because I've notice that every time my sister moves (she moves a lot) she doesn't have a lot of items that she needs to move from one place to the other (and the fact that she thinks she has money and want's to buy everything new every time she moves). That would not be my plan. I just would like to box everything up and unpack what I really really need to decorate and things I can't live without seeing. Basically my Books, Wine and Candles!!
I just need a bigger house!!!
Elsa wrote:I GOT THE SAME FEELING!!! This is how I summaries them..."Yes! I found this months choices to be odd as well! First, it's a new book club so I'm sure they're still figuring things out and second, BOTM has months every once in a while where nothing calls to me either. So, long story short I'm not judging Aardvark but 🤞🏻 that December goes back to October quality.
Elsa wrote: "I haven't moved in over 20 yrs!!..."Lucky!! We're renters so the 6 yr stretch was our longest so far in one place. Looking at purchasing a place maybe next year back in my hometown (Ohio) but I'm a nomad, even spending the last 6 yrs in Jacksonville has made me antsy lol I love living in new places and experiencing new things. Before Cancer and covid we were looking at moving to Europe but now I think I'd rather be closer to my family in Ohio.
did anyone ever have trouble locating a book on the BOTM site ?I was looking for last months add on (or I thought it was one of last months add ons) but when I selected add on, it didn't show.
So I typed in the name in the search and it popped up. It shows that it is under a genera they don't have available to select, Magical Realism. They also have it listed as "creepy, multiple viewpoints, rural, and magical" (all are green except one, which is red (creepy) I'm not sure I would list it under that, which I found that, that is what/where its listed whether it fits or not. So I wonder how many books are lost because they are mislabeled?
To me it's crazy confusing, just create one for Magical Realism or file it under Sci-fi or fantasy.
Any thoughts.
honestly, it's been a couple of years since I've not had a hard time finding books on the site. for whatever reason a couple of years back they changed the format and took away all of the categories and it is what we see today. since then I've never been able to find a book without just searching directly for the name. I actually canceled my subscription when they made this change, after a couple of months I was having a really hard time finding anything and it was very frustrating so I canceled, and I ended up coming back a couple of months later. I'm not sure why they changed it, and I'm not sure why it's still so broken
I called and told them I really wanted a book that was offered that same month and was told they didn't see that it had been reordered, so they wouldn't be offering it once they were gone, and they were gone the first week of the month it was offered. However this month I checked just to see and behold I was able to order it this month!!
So maybe if enough customers call and inform them of the confusion of their labeling, then they might do another change and get it right, or they can not and make it more confusing. LOL
