Help me find the title of this book!

Some time ago, I read an YA book with the following: a girl being sent through a dangerous forest to a large city, gets overtaken by dangerous soldiers, she is the only survivor, meets outcasts who live in the forest and falls for the leader, only to be turned over to soldiers near the end of the book. I cannot, for the life of me, find the title to this book. At the time I read it, there was not a sequel out yet. I've been searching and searching. The book is not the poppy war, but strikes me as a similar aesthetic.
