Jivana | 5 comments Guy (maybe a knight) married to the lady at the start of the book. She is either the sister or cousin of the hero's dead wife. Dead wife is described as perfect in everything she did, but she wasn't. Heroine is tomboy, has to learn how to run the keep or castle... I read in around 2003 but I think it was a lot older then that.

Zakle | 104 comments Is there anything that you remember? The cover? Plot? Anything? It will help narrow things down. I've seen several books that match the description but they all deal with scotsmen and there's no dead wife.

Jivana | 5 comments This may appear twice - commented on the app and something went wrong :/
I don't remember much of the plot other the her learning about how to run the keep and the guy being reluctant to marry and love someone else. I remember one scene where she is complaining about staying inside all the time sewing and the other woman saying, you think we like it? we'd rather be outside too but things have to get done... or something like that.
It may have had a simple cover with no people, and a short title. One or two words...

Jivana, did the story take place in Scotland or England?

To Wed a Highlander by Michele Sinclair sounds similar...but it published in 2008. One reviewer on Amazon says, "Colin McTiernay, a highlander...widowed, and being pushed by his father-in-law to marry his wife's sister, Makenna Dunstan... [Previous wife] Deidre was blonde, blue-eyed, and meek; a woman trained to run a large keep and be an important laird's wife, but she was also very fragile... Now he is being offered a red-haired, green-eyed, tomboy, termagant, to deal with and marry, who is willful, can wield a sword as well as, or better than, many of the Dunstan men, and worst of all, has no idea how to do woman's work."

Jivana | 5 comments lol very similar but I think it's set in England, but I'll read that one to see if it's it. I thought it was a Johanna Lindsey book but can't find one that fits.
