Never read the book but the inclusion of discussions on animal rights in a fiction novel is intriguing and not something you ever see really
Absolutely! I didn't know a lot about the novel before going into it so I was really surprised. It made for a great literary device pitting the protagonist (and any sympathetic readers) against the hunters in the book.
Hey thanks for the recommendation Steph! I hadn’t heard of Tokarczuk before reading your post, and now I’m really interested in reader her recently translated “The Books of Jacob” (which apparently is regarded as her masterwork). I love historical fiction and it’s a great way of breaking up the super dry non-fiction I usually stick to.

Described as an eco-feminist, I know Tokarczuk is considered a controversial figure in Poland due to her outspoken political views.
Just wondered if anyone else had enjoyed this book too?
