Being a Good Team Player
We ask only three things of team players:
1. Be kind in communications in the thread
2. Communicate regularly
3. Have fun!
- Thread chat is great, but it is also a high risk zone for miscommunications in the same way that all text-based chat is. Please assume the best intentions from everyone, and don't jump to the worst possible interpretation of a message.
- It doesn't matter how much or little you read, what makes captains REALLY happy are players who let us know what's going on. That means posting in the thread at least once a week, or updating the tracking sheet, or sending one of the caps (or the mods) a message if something is going wrong. We get tht life happens, and totally understand that, all we ask is a quick note to say: sorry! life! going to be awol for a time.
- Fun! this is a fun reading challenge, with nothing at stake, really! Chat here about what you are reading; go visit other teams to say hello; read books you enjoy

Hey team! Welcome to Tower Teams X!I'm Deanna. I live in Virginia and am currently trying to finish homeschooling my youngest who is in 9th grade while working full time.
This is my 5th TT challenge, and I'm looking forward to a fun game with all of you. Please take time to read through the rules and ask any questions you have.
I love to read Fantasy, Science Fiction, Mystery, Romance, and Thriller; but also like to try other genres from time to time.
Favorite new book read in 2023:
Book looking forward to reading during TTX:
My shelf: tower-x
Can't wait to meet everyone and hopefully find some new books to love along the way!
Hi everyone, I’m Jean from North Carolina. A Tar Heel born and bred, I love all things reading. I will read most any genre for a challenge but my go to reads are thrillers, mysteries, romantic suspense, historical fiction esp WWII. This will be my first Tower challenge but seems like it will be fun. My goodreads account is set to private, but feel free to friend me so you can see my shelves. My tower shelf is 2023-Tower.
I read around a book a day but freely admit I am a book whore and usually have three going at a time, a kindle book, an audiobook and physical book depending on where I am reading and what I am doing.
Counting down the days until we begin!
:D Hello, my name is Krystal and I'm from Canada. This is my first Tower Teams (actually any challenge really)! I'm super excited to get to know other bookish peoples and add more books to my TBR.
I got back into reading last summer and have been enjoying my time. I enjoy fantasy, romance, thriller, and (cozy) mystery.
I hope to get more reading time in to up the page counts for the team haha! Can't wait!
Hi! I'm Cordelia, I live on the west coast of the United States, and this is my third tower team challenge. I read a little bit of everything (with the exception of straight up horror) but I especially love fantasy with a good dose of historical fiction. I especially love when there's a romantic element to it! I usually read about 2-4 books a week. The first 2 weeks of May are going to be incredibly busy at work so it might be on the lower end of the scale to start out, but I expect things to slow down after that to where I can read more :)
My shelf is called tower-teams
Hi, I am Heather and I live in the Netherlands. During this challenge, I am going on holiday to Scotland for 2-3 weeks in June or July. I am looking forward to camping and relaxing as well as spending a few days with family and friends. I will still be reading as I am taking my trusty e-reader with me and will probably buy more second-hand books when I am there. I read a mix of genres. But I have some books that I want to read including:
>11/22/63
> Night Shift
> Four Past Midnight
> Noise: A Flaw in Human Judgment
> How to Sell a Haunted House
I am trying to read 12 Stephen King books this year and I only picked up my first one of the year this month 😂. So I have a little to catch up on. Also, I am planning to continue with the Outlander series and maybe the Kingbridge books so I should get a few chunky books for us. It depends on the challenge 🙂.
my TTX Shelf
Hello, I'm Annalisa and I'm from the mountains of North Carolina. This will be my 5th time participating in TT. I love reading challenges.I will read a little bit of everything but horror. I do tend to mostly read fantasy, science fiction, and romance, or all three combined. (Yes, please.) I'm very much a mood reader but I'm looking forward to reading some longer books maybe Brandon Sanderson, Ken Follett, or Robin Hobb.
Here is my TT shelf: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

I'm also thinking of some longer books, and Brandon Sanderson and Ken Follett are on that list!
Hi Everyone! My name is Natasha and I live in Minnesota. This is my third time participating in Tower Teams. I read pretty much everything but find myself drawn mostly towards historical fiction and thrillers.

Hi everyoneIm Rosina and I live in Western Canada near the Rockies.
We recently sold our house and are moving into a condo the first weekend in May. Looking forward to having more time to read after the move.
My fave genres are thrillers, mysteries, HF, UF, PNR. I think this is my 5th time playing.
My shelf tt10
The Dangerous Harem recently came up on my suggested list on kindle unlimited and I thought nope, unless it is a backroom book. Off to sign up for DQs because I'm sure there will be some really pressing questions that need to be asked like how did 8 feet become 20+ feet in less than a paragraph. I am way way to happy about this.
Hi there, I'm Alysa from NYC!This will be my fourth Tower Teams, I think, and I've been doing group NBRC challenges for about 5 years overall, though I'm a lot less active than I used to be, and my reading amounts have gone down. Stupid Real Life, lol.
I've been on teams with a couple of you before but not many. Nice to see you again, or meet you for the first time!
Shelf: tower-x-2023
Hi all! I'm Jhmingos or Lizzie from sunny California. Happy to see some familiar names. This will be my third Tower Teams and looking forward to seeing what everyone's reading. I read a lot of mysteries and classics but I generally like to read a mix of genres at once. I'm excited to get some of my big reads in, like finishing the last Lonesome Dove series, Comanche Moon, and reading Robin Hobb for the first time with Ship of Magic. Favorite 2023 reads so far:

Hello everyone, I'm Jenn and I'm from Arizona. I live for Tower Teams. This will be my 9th time doing it. I read a lot. Last year was almost 400 books. Some months are better than others - but Tower Teams encourages me to really ramp it up. I read a little bit of everything. Lately I've been into Cozy mysteries, Rom Com and memoirs. My shelf my link text

People where wanting to come to me to see my new home and where I am living.
I am trying to get my partner to plan out our trip with me as we are going to be doing the North Coast 500 and he is doing all the driving, we are taking the ferry across. I am excited about it, but it needs to be planned. He has a long weekend because it's koningsdag (kings day) tomorrow and then he has taken an extra day's holiday, so we will be planning it this weekend I hope.
Book of the MonthWe also can earn points for participating in the Book of the Month discussions in NBRC group. The books for May are Kings of the Wyld, The Daughter of Doctor Moreau and backroom BOM Dino Island: Books 1-3, book 3.
For current BOM (Book of the Month) discussions we can earn points either by
1. Writing a day's worth of discussion questions = 40 points or
2. Participating in a current BOM (participating in discussion)= 20 points.
Participation is defined as answering 3 days discussion questions. There will be fields on our team spreadsheet to add in the links for your answers.
If you are interested in writing discussion questions please review the additional information below from the moderators:
We will accept one team member per book per team for writing a days DQs. If, by three days prior to the BOM starting, we don't have enough volunteers to write all DQs, then we will let more than one team member per team write questions. If we have more people than days sign up (prior to 3 days before start date) we will randomise the volunteers to determine those who can write DQs.
Remember that you can collect your participation points from previous BOM (from January 2022) for an extra entry in the randomiser, on a basis of 3 participation points to 1 extra entry. Your team will be allowed a maximum of 6 entries for each BOM.
Restrictions:
- you must link posts to your participation if you want to claim them
- only one set of writing DQs will be allocated to each team (unless there aren't enough volunteers)
- must be from the main group, Backroom BOM participation doesn't count
- you must finish the book after the start of Tower Teams, and within one month of the BOM starting
Example:
The first challenge BOM is the June 2022 Adult BOM.
Cat participated in the January and February, plus the May Themed BOMs (5 participation points in total). She can therefore claim ONE extra entry for the June Adult, and still has two participation points. She participates in the June Adult, and thus gains an additional participation point (to a total of three). She can turn these three in for an extra entry in the June Themed BOM. She now has no participation points remaining.
Team Mods have three volunteers for the June Adult BOM: Cat (could claim two entries), Judith (could claim three entries) and Sophie (could claim two entries). They are only permitted a maximum of 6 entries, and so Judith only turns in enough participation points to claim two entries. Judith still has participation points to claim another entry in the June Themed BOM.
Here's what I put together for the tracking sheet. (Yes, I shamelessly borrowed from a couple of other teams to save time.)https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
There is conditional formatting on the Books Tab:
Columns A-D
-turn light yellow when we check column M to show the books are on their shelf with a read date and meet the challenge requirements
-turn dark pink when we check column N to show the books have been added to the Book tab of the official spreadsheet
-turn purple when we check column O to show the books have been used in a mini-challenge
Column K
cells turn red if we accidentally assign more than one book to a mini task
Let me know if it makes sense or we need to change anything
Sounds good. Why don't we each add at least a couple today, and then the team will have some examples when I post the link on the main thread tomorrow morning.

This looks wonderful. The only thing I think would help is maybe some suggestions for the type of connections that could be made for the winners challenge part. I know one of the other team’s spreadsheet had something like that. I’ll see if I can find it again.
Maybe a drop down on the colors for the additional rainbows??
Heather wrote: "Annalisa wrote: "Hello, I'm Annalisa and I'm from the mountains of North Carolina. This will be my 5th time participating in TT. I love reading challenges.I will read a little bit of everything b..."
I read The Rain Wild Chronicles Series, The Farseer Trilogy, and Fitz and the Fool.
I did not read them in order (I did read each series in order, but not in order of the story. I read parts of Fitz and the Fool before The Farseer Trilogy.), but I don't think that is completely necessary you'll know more but the world is pretty amazing even if you don't have all the back story.
Also, I think it might be helpful to have a listing of the letters we need and quantity for the spellouts either at the bottom of the page of spellouts or on a separate sheet. It would be nice to kind of update that periodically for the letters and quantities we still need. I don’t know if that would be beyond my spreadsheet skills to make that an automatic thing, probably, but we can still keep up with it every couple of weeks manually and I would be happy to do so. Adding in all the possible spellouts gets tiresome if they are not really needed.I added a book and played with it a little just to see to how the everything worked. You’ve done a great job on this!
Hello.I am Kate. I have a mix of fiction and non-fiction coming up early in May. This is my ninth tower team (I missed the third one, I think). Looking forward to playing with you all.
