Hello,
This is where you state your favorite genres and why.

Speculative fiction (includes science fiction, horror, fantasy, dystopian, apocalyptic, alternate history, and post-apocalyptic) - I couldn't say why I love it so much. I think it is the genre that helps me escape the most.

Though I will read pretty much anything other than romance.

It is really hard to write a good romance. A lot of authors try and a lot of authors fail. When you weed through the crap and finally find a rich romance, it's worth the effort.

Right. And that's the problem with any genre really. It's just a matter of what you love enough to wade through some crap to get to the jewels. Bad spec-fic is really embarrassingly cringe-worthy, but worth to me.

With that said, The Time Traveler's Wife is one of my beloved books and it's definitely all-romance with just a dash of sci-fi for flavor.

Mary Elizabeth (melizabethgoodreader) | 4 comments YA is what I read the most of, usually fantasy, some sci-fi, thrillers, and mysteries. The "Why?" is simple. Escapism.

Right now, I'm really into psychological thrillers. I've only read two, Gone Girl and We Need to Talk About Kevin, but they were both very thought provoking and deep.

Have you tried any Neil Gaiman books? He is great at writing horrifying villains.
