Andrea | 3595 comments Saw the blog post this morning

And I can't help myself, I like to see how may books I've read or have on my to-read list.

I've only read 8...
- 2 big books, 1 fever dream, 1 road trip, 1 thought provoking, 1 wacky premise, 1 unassuming protagonist (think we all read that one) and 1 robot which doesn't show up as read because I read all the stories in it in other anthologies so technically, I've never read the I, Robot book even after having read pretty well every single Robot story that's out there

The reason I've read so few is that most books are pretty recent and it takes me forever to get around to reading new releases (I also rarely purchase hardcovers now, no space to put them!)

Many I've never even heard of, but I have equal number that I'm super eager to get to soon as I find time. I own 10, many thanks to the Tor ebook giveaways which unfortunately appears to have died out.

And hey, that "draconic family drama" mentioned, that was one of our group reads :)

Tony Calder (tcsydney) | 1107 comments Interesting premise. I think I've only read 3 or 4 of the books on their list, although I have read books in almost every category they listed that aren't on their list.

Audrey (niceyackerman) | 638 comments I've read 17 and DNF'd one. A few I disliked. A few more on the TBR.

Bryan | 313 comments I've read 11 and intend to read maybe 4 or 5 more.

Same with me, I don't often read the latest books. Plus, I find those goodread lists are terrible, I guess that should be expected when the focus is more on who the author is rather than the book.

Audrey (niceyackerman) | 638 comments Agreed, Bryan!

Georgann | 322 comments To my surprise, I've read 9 and one DNF. I am surprised b/c, as others said, I don't read much of the latest, newest books. I have 16 on my ginormous TBR pile! My favorite category is "Give me lovable found families, please!" as I read all 4 of those. So I thought this was a pretty ok list!

Isabella | 244 comments I haven’t read many and they’re older books. Fantasy wasn’t much of a thing in my youth. LOTR of course, and that did change things. It wasn’t new then, Stoker, Morris, Dunsany and others had led the way years earlier. No idea what they would make of the current offerings, any more than I do. What led me to fantasy was a desire for Romance in the literary sense, a desire for the other, ‘Here be dragons’. A real dragon would be utterly terrifying … I see that same longing still in the genre but it seems to me that it is much more bound up with youth seeking romance and adventure in the emotional sense and I’m less interested in that. I’ll leave most of the list to a new generation and enjoy my old favourites as befits my age!
