The book you like most discussion

Hey! I’m looking to add more series to my to be read and I’m open to checking out anything! I usually like Fiction, thriller, adventure, mystery and/or romance books. Currently I’m reading two of Anne Bishops series and I love them. The Others is my favorite so far and I have just started The Black Jewels trilogy. What about you guys?

If you’re into some fantasy as far as fiction goes the once upon a broken heart series has been my favorite this year ! Only 2/4 books are out but sooooo good. Young adult. And some romance involved. Enemies become lovers type thing and want each other but can’t. So good.

Fantasy is my favorite genre and I just finished the Hell's Library trilogy which was amazing! A love letter to books, even the unwritten ones

Oops I misread fiction for fantasy so I already assumed you were a fan lol. I'm a mom too and I love seeing other moms make time for reading or whatever fun thing they like to do!

In literary fiction, I just finished Medicine Walk by Richard Wagamese, and it was very very good.

In fantasy, J. Gregory Keyes, Waterborn. The prose is simply a delight to read, and the story is fascinating too. A unique world full of spirits and magic and other strangeness.

In thriller, try the John Rain books by Barry Eisler. International assassin action, but superbly written. A very likeable main character, despite his flaws.

A fantastic fantasy series is "The Power of Gold" trilogy by J. J. Leach. Fantastic storytelling from the very beginning.

The Hunger Games(by Suzanne Collins) and the Selection(by Kiera Cass)series are amazing! I definitely recommend to anyone and everyone!

I thought I wouldn’t be able to read as much as I do now after having my first baby but it’s been so much better for my mind while breastfeeding.

I’m glad to have more books to add my list. Thanks everyone. I go to the library every two weeks and choose randomly which books I want next. I’ll definitely be looking into grabbing the suggestions!

Hi! Just to add on I recommend the “Market of Monsters” trilogy :) I actually discovered it at my library lol! It’s a mix of young adult and horror but it’s sooooo good.

I am loving Kattee Robert's O'Malley series. It's your contemporary romance series with some mafia action.

My favorite series would have to be Harry Potter, of course, The Folk Of The Air, and The Inheritance Games series. All are either fantasy or mystery with just the right pinch of romance.
Harry Potter- I think everyone read or at least knows about it, so I don't think there's much to explain. It's a beautiful, thoughtfully written series that focuses on magic, friendship and bravery.
The Folk Of The Air- this is pretty popular too, but If you haven't checked it out yet, it's a politics, fantasy book set in the world of Elfhame. The faerie vibes are everything >>> Plus it has a tiny little bit of romance between the mc and her enemy. Yep, a slow-burn, enemies to lovers. And a very well developed one indeed.
The Inheritance Games- again, this has gotten quite popular recently. It's a great mistery with lots of riddles and clues and puzzles, while also a tense romance with a love triangle (the type where the fmc likes 2 hot guys). It's actually done really well, so If you normally dislike love triangles, I still think you should give it a try. (also where are my Jameson girlies???)

If you haven't read Spencer Quinn's Chet and Bernie series -- totally fun! Light, easy reading mysteries told from the dog's point of view. Start with "Dog On It" (first one in the series) but after that, easy enough to jump around (and the titles are great, too - The Sound and the Furry, To Fetch a Thief, A Fistful of Collars).

I personaly dont focus on one Genre, even if I have my Favorits.
Its better to gatter experiences from many different Places.

I love the older Indiana Jones like Adventure Comics from Francé, and Belgium. Tintin is a fascinating Political Work. Probably needs a lot of Context to understand all of it, but its quiet impressive.
But I wouldnt recommend any Story before King Ottocars Sceptre.

Agatha Christie is a very talented Writer, who knows how to write easy digestable Storys, for a wider Audience, whitout compromising Quality. Her biggest Flaw is definitly the Number of Charakter she introduces at the Beginning, and she fails to differenciate them enough.
And some of her Books feel a bit formulaic, if you read more then 20, but I guess that had to be expected.

Sherlock Holmes.
Pretty much the opposide of formulaic. Today mainly known for his Rivalry whit Moriarty, Holmes is honestly a everyman, someone like Superman, who helps whit any Issue, no matter the Scope.
Different from Agatha Christie who mainly focusses on Murders, and who did it, Holmes Storys are about all Mysteries.
In one Story we imideatly know who did it, but not how, why, or even what. In another, its a classic Murder whit classic Murderer.
While not necressarily the most basic Sherlock Holms Story, for me the Hound of Baskerville endet up to be Doyles definitive Magnum Opus.

How about narrative nonfiction with a theme of crime like In Cold Blood, The Executioner's Song, Helter Skelter, or The Devil in the White City. Not for the faint hearted.

I read everything from True Crime, Thrillers and Horror.

My favorite right now is the Inheritance Games series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes! It’s the only one I’ve read multiple times through. I found it when I had just started to warm up to reading again after years of not touching books because I had attention span issues. But here I am a few months later… I have completely fallen down the bookworm rabbit hole because of reading it! 🐇📖

Fantasy is my favorite genre. I’m partial to vampires, werewolves, witches but not zombies. That’s why Kim Harrison’s series about The Hollows with Rachel Morgan is my go to read.

My two favorite duologies of the year are the celestial kingdom duology and the radiant emperor duology. Both highly recommended. The first is whimsical magical and romantic, the second is… gut wrenchingly beautiful, gutwrenching being a key word here but it was worth it.

His Dark Materials Trilogy is the best book i have ever read. now although the book is great it is very against the catholic church and religion so please be mindful of these themes before you start reading the books

My favorite is a little ya series called The Inheritance Games. It’s about a girl who inherits Billions of dollars from a complete stranger. She teams up with the Hawthorne grandsons to complete the mystery of her out of nowhere inheritance. There is a really great romantic plot including a love triangle. Unexpected twists are waiting for you around every corner of the giant Hawthorne mansion.

This is a difficult question to answer since I came back to reading only this year. But until now I love Harry Potter series, and my favorite genre is medieval & fantasy.

Hands down to the Name of the Wind. What a blast of book it is. I still have to read the 2nd one, but maybe I will wait for the 3rd to be launched (if that's going to happen of course).

Kevin Hearse’s IRON DRUID CHRONICLES is a really fun series if you are into fantasy and world mythology. My favorite part *might* be that the main character has an Irish Wolfhound, Oberon, and they have some kind of mind link where they can talk to each other telepathically. I’ve read all of the original series, but I think there might be some newer ones.
At one point, I had audiobook versions that I listened to on my daily commute, but I HATED the voice they used for Oberon! I imagined that dog having a much more regal and intellectual voice, but he sounded dopey, like Scooby Doo.😭

Oh my goodness! I forgot Ken Follet’s Pillars of the Earth series. Of course because I taught English literature for 34 years, I loved it. The books are quite long, though. Epic, even. A recurring thematic idea throughout the books is a strong, intelligent woman being controlled by a weaker, much less intelligent man. The books are quite historically accurate and the first one is set before what we think of as medieval. Really, really good.

My "favourite" is a really hard question for me because I am a bookseller who genuinely reads everything and a mood-reader, and thus, this is a broad question. I can say my top two genres are Fantasy (broad) and Dark Academia (less broad :p).
May favourite series RIGHT NOW is The Tarot Sequence by K D Edwards <3. This'll change often though :p

I really enjoyed the Spirit Animals series when I was younger (fantasy adventure-ish). Also, the Magisterium series, like the blending of some elements of Percy Jackson and Harry Potter.

I really loved John Le Carre' s Karla series: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Honorable Schoolboy and Smiley's People. They are terrific character studies as well as being great thrillers and mysteries.

In the same vein, The Slough House series by Mick Herron. Action packed but filled with great flawed characters who Herron doesn't hesitate to bump off. King of them all is Jackson Lamb, a chain smoking, alcoholic anti-hero who can't resist putting a tumbler of scotch in front of an alcoholic agent or making fun of another who has no legs. It's an action series that made me laugh out loud many times.

Also loved Stieg Larsson's trilogy starting with the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I guess you could say I like complex characters.

For non fiction, the series I love best is William Shirer's Twentieth Century Journey. This is autobiography in three volumes. I wasn't that keen on the third of the trilogy but the first two hit it out of the park. He was a midwestern boy who snagged a reporting job in 1920's Paris. He was friends with Isadora Duncan, hung out with Gertrude Stein, Hemingway, James Thurber and saw Lindberg land at Le Bourget. In the second volume he has an eyewitness view of the rise of the Nazi's.

My favorite genre is fantasy and ironically I fell in love with fantasy books ever since I read the acotar series , I’m on the 3rd book but my favorite book has got to be the cruel prince by Holly Black

I am new to the group and enjoying it so much. I love almost every genre, so I generally do not adhere to any particular series. However, with a nod to Louise Penny and Inspector Gamache, I would have to choose Linda Castillo’s Kate Burkholder series as a personal favorite. Cannot resist a thriller set in Ohio’s Amish country that includes a fun romance, a silly yet effective police force and a genuinely cool lady as chief of police!

So far, I absolutely love Donna Leon's series: all of them! Usually there are a few that don't measure up, but all if hers have been amazing, both the oldest and the newest.

I love the Inspector Gamache series by Louise Penny. Set in a fictional village outside of Quebec. Such colorful characters along with the obligatory murder.
Also, Thursday Murder Club - more colorful characters as well as a cold case murder.
