What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I read this book 15-20 years ago I think. The author is documenting the search for her family history. As I recall her father’s family were from somewhere in India and her mother’s family had Black roots in the Caribbean. I kind of recall the author was a science writer from Ontario, Canada -a female. She tried to explore and explain and apply early dna geneology techniques available to her at the time. The title of the book may have the word tiger in it based on my vague memory.
