Hannah | 3407 comments What a disappointment this was after the excellent I’m Not Done With You Yet and the very good Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice to Murderers by the same author! I didn’t have incredibly high hopes for this one after reading quite a negative review of it recently. There was a lot of going on in this book, but it was completely over the top in a ridiculous way that didn’t make me laugh, but had the effect of making me roll my eyes and look to see how much of the book I had left to read. In the authors note before the book began, the author stated that whilst there would be some stereotypes, she hoped to not just portray these, but to me it seemed that that was all she did. The book started off in quite a fun way, but it quickly went downhill, and the characters were completely one-dimensional. Whilst I will definitely read more books by Sutanto in the future, I’m going to stay away from her Aunties series.

Team: Sassy Sisterhood. Extra read for “S”. Matches tag x 60

KateNZ | 4158 comments I started to read this because I thought it would be fun but decided very early that it wasn’t for me and returned it to the library. I’m in a bit of a reading slump and this was just not engaging enough. So glad I didn’t persist! You and I are usually in line with whether we like a book.

Robin P | 6046 comments I thought it was delightful, although of course it's also ridiculous. I thought it would make a good movie, which apparently is happening.

Olivermagnus (lynda11282) | 4953 comments I loved Vera but this consistently gets bad reviews so I'm taking it off my TBR.
