Hannah | 3409 comments I was so hopeful for this book as the premise seemed good, and whilst I haven’t read many Reese’s Book Club picks, I have really enjoyed all of those that I have read, but this ended up being a lot lighter and indeed sillier than I was hoping for. Half-way through, the book took a bit of a turn that I wasn’t expecting, and serious topics including violence, child abuse, neglect, addiction, suicidal thoughts and attempts and self-harm were introduced, but were not always dealt with in a way that was as serious as needed, as it was often only referenced as part of flashbacks into the characters traumas when they were teenagers. I felt that the romance was exaggerated and lacking real emotional depth and connection, and the writing came across as forced on occasions. I did have another book by this author on my TBR, but having read this one, I have decided to remove it.
