Synopsis:
Commander Ryoko Hyakutake earned it. Her new title, honor, and the respect of the Skyonian Imperial Military. But she'd throw her reputation away in an instant to bring back those she lost. Crippled with survivor's guilt, she, along with the rest of the military, search for the remains of a sacred sword to strike back against the god Xilmire and his curse.

When Ryoko becomes the first person to slip free from Xilmire's grasp, she uncovers both a conspiracy against her within the ranks of the military and the secrets of the god's curse. Each new revelation about the curse could put her life further on the line.

But there is a chance those secrets could save her people.

Will she uncover the curse's secrets in time to save everyone? Will she save herself? Or will the Skyonian Imperial Military destroy itself?

Why I wrote this book: As an autistic person, I tend to create massive fantasy worlds that I wish I was a part of. Writing is the best way I can communicate with other people and share my ideas, which I do through writing characters and discussing issues that people need to be aware of. Most importantly, I write because I've just felt like I was born to tell stories. One of the things that separates this book from other books of the genre is that I combined a combination of both steampunk and heavy floral-based technology (think living, mobile tree platforms and sentient weaponry made out of vines that bind to the user's hand). I codenamed this style "greenpunk." Another thing that separates this is the relationship between the lead character and her adopted sister is done in such a positive light because their almost mother daughter relationship reminds me of me and my dad. But because I am autistic, sometimes it can be hard for me to say how I really feel about others. Their relationship is written as an homage to my relationship with my father, almost as a way of thanking him for everything he's done and how he encouraged me to pursue my talents, overcome fears of rejection, and to publish this book.
