In 1996 I was waiting for a flight from Charles de Gualle airport in Paris to Madrid. I was sitting at the correct gate area according to the electronic boards and so on so put my Walkman on and paid little attention to what was going on around me. The departure time arrived and so I approached the desk. They informed me this flight was to Munich (synchronistically the woman I was going to visit in Spain I met when we were both workers at the same hotel in Munich for a year 1993/4) and that the gate numbers for these flights had been changed while I was waiting. I ran through the airport to the correct gate and on arrival they told me I was too late as they'd all boarded. I managed to persuade them (perhaps they felt sorry for me) to hold the plane and allow me to board. I remember getting a lot of disapproving glares from passengers once on board as I slunk to my seat. I did actually get to Madrid and the whole visit turned out pretty dysfunctionally, as usual (inevitably really in hindsight)🙃

The dysfunctional trips tend to have the best stories in my opinion. :)

I'll start!
I got food poisoning on an overnight train in Morocco. I’ll spare you the details but it was definitely an adventure, albeit kind of a crappy one.
