Did anybody get through this?I have to admit that I set it aside even earlier than on my last attempt (60 pages this time, 150 previously).
The sections are each enjoyable enough to read, but there's no drive to the book -- nothing that makes you (or me) want to pick it up again.
It was a few years ago, but I did actually finish this book, largely on the strength of wanting to understand more about Jose Saramago's The year of the death of Ricardo Reis. I can't pretend it wasn't a struggle - the moments of brilliance were largely lost in a formless and repetitious mass of random thoughts. I'm not surprised this discussion drew so few comments...

(*The existential angst books are:
Notes from Underground - Dostoevsky
The Tartar Steppe - Buzzati
The Plague - Camus
The Tunnel - Sábato
Desperate Characters – Fox)
