It's been a while since I visited the Stephanie Plum series, and I forgot how much I love the character.

Stephanie is a bounty hunter, going after people who've skipped out on bail. She's not very good at the job, and always, always finds herself in ridiculous situations.

In this book, Stephanie takes an assignment to bring in a young woman Maxine Nowicki for failing to appear at her court date. On the surface, it should be relatively easy. Maxine's mother put up her house as collateral for the bail bond, and is expected to help track down Maxine so she doesn't lose her home.

But Maxine is wily and not so easy to catch.

I love the recurring characters, the dry sense of humor, and the rolling disasters that follow Stephanie everywhere.
